The study aims to develop local wisdom – based teaching materials to improve elementary school students' scientific literacy skills, using a 4-D model: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The subjects of testing included 37 of fourth-grade students at SDN Gading 6 Surabaya. In addition, data were collected through validation sheets, tests of scientific literacy skills, and student questionnaires. The data analysis used descriptive statistics, N-gain, and different tests. The results showed that local wisdom – based teaching materials could be implemented as an alternative source of learning natural science in elementary schools, compliance with the criteria of a) valid in terms of fulfilling the 98% validity assessment score with very valid criteria b) practical reviewed from the 3.64 scores with very good criteria c) effective with a 0.5average N-gain, there are significant differences between the pretest and posttest scores,and 100% of positive responses.
Indonesia is rich in cultures encompassing the understanding of various values that must be learned by students. Learning based on a cultural perspective relating to natural phenomena in life is called ethnoscience. Surabaya as a metropolitan city has various cultures including Remo dance, batik, rujak cingur, lontong balap, fish preservation, and semanggi. There are many scientific concepts that can be explored through these cultures. This study aimed to explore scientific concepts through these cultures in elementary schools. This study used descriptive research design with transformative, verification, and knowledge conceptualization stages. Results showed that many scientific concepts extracted from ethnoscience, for instance in rujak cingur, were related to the concepts of friction force, healthy food, and physical and chemical changes. With ethnoscience-based science learning, students are expected to learn happily and master the science concepts easily.
Research aims to produce a storybook containing ecoliteracy education for elementary school students of good quality in terms of the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of a product. This type of research is Research and Development with the ADDIE model. The instruments used were validation questionnaires, observations, teacher response questionnaires and learning outcomes tests. The results of this study indicate that the validation of interactive storybooks for ecoliteracy learning gets an average coefficient of validation from the validator, which is very valid qualifications. The practicality of loading the teacher's response questionnaire gets a percentage of 97%, the results of teacher and student observations get a percentage of 91% and 94%. The effectiveness based on giving pretest and posttest to students amounted to 30 students in grade 1 and 30 students in grade 2 with an average pretest result of 74, while the average posttest was 90.8. The result indicates that there is a significant difference in the learning outcomes of early grade elementary school students using interactive story books. Based on the validation of the instrument and the recapitulation of the questionnaire filled in by the teacher, it can be stated that the quality of the interactive storybooks developed are very valid, practical and effective for use in learning. This interactive storybook can help early grade elementary school teachers in growing interest in reading related to ecoliteracy learning so that students' awareness of caring for and caring for the surrounding environment can be carried out from an early age.
<span lang="EN-US">Students’ science literacy in Indonesia is considered very low and needs improvement. Knowledge, such as science, can be learned naturally and effectively in social context (Social Scientific Issues/SSI). The current elementary students are regarded as generation Z students who are interested in technology and skill-based education, namely, interactive multimedia. This study aimed to develop SSI Gadget-based interactive multimedia in order to improve elementary students’ science literacy skills. This is a Research and Development study with 4-D model; define, design, develop, disseminate. The subjects of this research were 23 students. The data were collected using validation sheet, observation sheet and science literacy test. The data then </span><span lang="IN">being </span><span lang="EN-US">analyzed </span><span lang="IN">by </span><span lang="EN-US">using descriptive statistic of presentation and N-gain. The result indicated that interactive multimedia based on SSI-Gadget are compatible as an alternative learning medium to improve elementary students’ science literacy since they met the criteria of being, a) very valid with a score of 3.55; b) good practicality </span><span lang="IN">in it </span><span lang="EN-US">so that the students dominantly did their activities through the developed media; c) effective, as there were positive responses about the learning activities and the students improved their science literacy skills from level 3 to level 4, with an N-gain of 0.4.</span>
