Cordyceps militaris readily performs sexual reproduction, thus providing a remarkably rich model for understanding the processes involved in sexual development. It could regulate expression of human genes by diet-derived miRNA-like RNAs (milRNAs). However, the study of miRNAs in C. militaris has been limited. In the present study, genes encoding Dicers, Argonautes, and RNA-dependent RNA polymerases were identified. Illumina deep sequencing was performed to characterize the milRNAs in C. militaris at asexual and sexual development stages. Total 38 milRNAs were identified and five milRNAs were validated by northern blot and qRT-PCR, out of which, 19 were specific for sexual development. Importantly, the fungi could not form fruiting bodies after disruption of milR4, while the perithecium was formed in advance after over-expression of milR4. Abnormal pale yellow fruiting body primordium, covered with abnormal primordium, was formed in the strain with miR16 disruption. Although no milR4 or milR16 target genes were identified, differential expression of many different genes involved in mycelium growth and sexual development (mating process, mating signaling, and fruiting body development) among these mutants were found. Overall, milRNAs play vital roles in sexual development in C. militaris.
Semiconductors and metals can form an Ohmic contact with an electric field pointing to the metal, or a Schottky contact with an electric field pointing to the semiconductor. If these two types of heterojunctions are constructed on a single nanoparticle, the two electric fields may cause a synergistic effect and increase the separation rate of the photogenerated electrons and holes. Metal Ni and Ag nanoparticles were successively loaded on the graphitic carbon nitride (g‐C3N4) surface by precipitation and photoreduction in the hope of forming hybrid heterojunctions on single nanoparticles. TEM/high‐resolution TEM images showed that Ag and Ni were loaded on different locations on C3N4, which indicated that during the photoreduction reaction Ag+ obtained electrons from C3N4 in the reduction reaction, whereas oxidation reactions proceeded on Ni nanoparticles. Photocatalytic hydrogen production experiments showed that C3N4‐based hybrid heterojunctions can greatly improve the photocatalytic activity of materials. The possible reason is that two heterojunctions could form a long‐range electric field similar to the p‐i‐n structure in semiconductors. Most of the photogenerated carriers were generated and then separated in this electric field, thereby increasing the separation rate of electrons and holes. This further improved the photocatalytic activity of C3N4.
White organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) with higher performance, which have enjoyed application in high-quality lighting sources, are here demonstrated with improved optical and electrical properties. The integration of a novel transparent distributed Bragg reflector (DBR), which consists of periodically alternating layers of atomic layer deposition-fabricated ZrO2/Zircone films and sputtered tin-doped indium oxide into OLEDs microcavities were studied to obtain four-peak electroluminescence (EL) spectra. Three types of OLEDs with two-peak, three-peak, and four-peak EL spectra have been developed. The results of the two-peak spectra show that the DBR structures have an outstanding effect on carrier capture; as a result, the device exhibits a stronger stability in color at various applied voltages. The Commission Internationale de L’Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of the two-peak device at 5–13 V shows few displacements and a negligible slight variation of (±0.01, ±0.01). In addition, the four-peak WOLED also yields a high color purity white emission as the luminance changes from 100 cd m−2 to 10,000 cd m−2.
In this paper L625 UV-DIAL system was described, and ozone measurement method was briefly introduced. Some observation results were presented and discussed. Ozone data were obtained by L625 UV-DIAL system at Hefei for more than two hundred days. The characteristics of ozone vertical profiles are analyzed, its seasonal variation and stratosphere-troposphere exchange process. Two yearly averaged profiles and their standard deviations were presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
