Simental bulls often experience a decline in production and semen quality in the rainy season, which have a higher humidity and high rainfall. This study aims to maintain nutrient consumption, production and semen quality Simental bulls during the rainy season through the supplementation of Vitamin E, Selenium and Zinc Minerals. The study was conducted in JulyDecember 2012 at the Artificial Insemination Center (BIB) Unggaran. The research material used in this study were 12 males Simental cows BIB Unggaran grouped by age. The experimental design used in this study is a randomized block design (RBD) with 3 treatments T1 (ration + Vit. E), T2 (ration + Vit. E + Se), T3 (ration + Vit. E + Se + Zn) and 4 groups as replicates. Parameters measured were dry matter intake and nutrient consumption, production and semen quality. Cement production was measured from fresh semen volume during the study, whereas semen quality measured motility and concentration of spermatozoa from fresh semen. Data consumption of dry matter and nutrient intake obtained were processed using analysis of variance, followed by Duncan test. While data on production and semen quality were analyzed descriptively.The results showed that the combination of vitamin E supplementation, minerals Selenium and Zinc did not affect dry matter intake, total digestible nutriens and crude protein, but resulted in a decrease in the percentage of shelter, semen volume, sperm motility and concentration smaller than before treatment. Treatment T1, T2 and T3 resulted in a decrease in the number of shelter respectively 41,55%, 19,56% and 13,63% compared to before treatment, whereas a decrease in semen volume unchanged at 44,9 %, 43,7% and 40,99%. Sperm motility due to treatment T1, T2 and T3 respectively decreased sebesaar 55,87%, 22,10% and 13,63% compared to before treatment. In line with sperm motility, sperm concentration in treatment T , T2 and T3, respectively decreased by 49,16%, 22,85% and 14,88%. The conclusion is a combination of vitamin E supplementation, minerals Selenium and Zinc can prevent the decline in cement production, sperm motility and sperm concentration Simental bulls during the rainy season.

Genetic diversity ofOngole Grade Cattle of Rembang District, Central Java, Indonesia, based on blood protein polymorphism. Biodiversitas 19: 1429-1433. The objective of this study was to identify genetic diversity in Ongole Grade cattle of Rembang District, Central Java, Indonesia,based on blood-protein polymorphism. A total of 34 blood samples were collected from unrelated Ongole Grade cattle and the bloodplasm was used to identify the blood proteins. Blood protein analysis was performed using Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate-Polyacrilamide GelElectrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Observed bands were used to perform allele interpretation of four loci, namely Albumin (Alb), Postalbumin(Po-Alb), Ceruloplasmin (Cp) and Amylase-1 (Am-1). Results showed the presence of polymorphism in all of the four bloodproteinloci, average heterozigosity value (H) being 0.506 and almost all of the blood-protein loci studied showed deviation from Hardy-Weimberg Equilibrium (HWE). In conclusion, the study indicated that population of Ongole Grade cattle in Rembang, Indonesia hashigh genetic diversity.

Objectives of this study were to compare the percentage of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) and cervical mucus profile which includes potential of Hydrogen (pH), abundance of cervical mucus, spinnbarkeit and ferning of dairy cattle at different age during estrus cycle. Thirty Two head of dairy cattle were used as materials which are 2 years old (n = 2), 3 years old (n = 18), 4 years old (n = 8) and 5 years old (n=4). Dairy cattle were estrus synchronized using 50 mg/head of prostaglandin. Data was collected on 48, 72, 78, 84, 90, 120, 144 and 408 hours after prostaglandin administration. The data were analyzed by using non parametric statistic which was Kruskal-Wallis H test. The significant data was tested with Mann-Whitney U test. The result showed that the abundance of cervical mucus was significantly different (P<0.05; χ2 = 0.011) on 84 hours after estrus synchronization. However, level of NaCl, abundance, spinnbarkeit and ferning of cervical mucus was not sigificantly different. In conclusion, the age of dairy cattle did not affected to the condition NaCl percentage, spinnbarkeit, pH and ferning of cervical mucus, but affected to the abundance of cervical mucus on 84 hours after adminitration of prostaglandine.

The aim of this research was to observe the changes in appearance of vulva during estrus of dairy cows at different ages. There were 32 females with 2 years old (n = 2), 3 years old (n = 18), 4 years old (n = 8) and 5 years old (n = 4). Dairy cows were synchronized using 50 mg / head of Prostaglandin F2α. Calipers were used to measure the length and width of the vulva as swallenness data, clinical therrnometers were used to obseve temperature of vulva and scoring was conducted to evaluate the vulva color. Data were carried out at 48, 72, 78, 84, 90, 120, 144 and 408 hours after injection of hormon. The data were analyzed with non parametric using Kruskal-Wallis H test, if any significant difference was tested with Mann-Whitney U test using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) 21. Results of analysis test for swelling of vulva on 120th observation hour (P<0,05., χ 2 = 9,943) and temperature of vulva on 84th observation hour (P<0,05., χ 2 = 8,37). While, the color of vulva did not show any significant different. In conclusion of this research, there was no significant difference on appearance of vulva.

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of different Body Condition Score to the intensity of estrus on Simmental Peranakan Ongole cattle. 20 cattle of SimPO of this research.The parameter of the research werethe estrus behavior, discoloration of vulva, vulva's temperature and swelling of vulva.The results of this study showed that highest intensity of estrus behavior often showed by BCS 4 and the lowest often showed by BCS 3, discoloration of vulva with the intensity of deep red that showed by BCS 5 and intensity of pale red that showed by BCS 3, vulva's temperature with the highest average (38.366 O C) that showed by BCS 6 and the lowest average temperature (38.123 O C) that showed by BCS 4, the average swelling of vulva with most large size (5.31 cm ) that showed by BCS 6 and the smallest ( 4.38 cm ) that showed by BCS 5. The conclutions were the differences of SimPO cattle's BCS based on statistical analysis did not show a significant effect on the estrus behavior, discoloration of vulva, vulva's temperature and swelling of vulva.

The aim of this study was to find the effect of optimize vitamin C in to the extender on post thawing test of frozen Limousine bull semen. The materialof this research used semen ejaculate from 3 Limousine bull. The treatment of vitamin C 0 mg (T0), vitamin C 250 mg/ 100 ml (T1) and vitamin C 750 mg/ 100 ml (T2) to skim milkegg yolk extender. The statistic analysis Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 treatments and 3 groups. The parameters observed are semen motility, semen mortality (percentage of death) and semen abnormalities. Results of this research showed that vitamin C on extender significantly affected (P <0.05) on post thawing motility, but not significantly affected (P> 0.05) on mortality and abnormalities.The highest sperm quality was achieved by addition of 250 mg vitamin C to skim milkegg yolk extender. On the basis of the present result it is concluded that vitamin C on skim milkegg yolk extender have not been able to maintain the quality of post thawing semen.
