The purpose of study was to determine the effect of vitamin C supplementation on maximum physical activity on the total of leukocytes. Research method used a quasi-field experiment with pre-test design and post-test control group design. The study subjects consisted of four male non-athletes, aged 20-22 years. The number of leukocytes was measured before and after vitamin C supplementation with a dose of 100 mg and 500 mg in maximum activity, namely running to fatigue. Data normality was tested by Kolmogorov Smirnov and paired sample t-test was used to test for differences in the total of leukocytes before and after vitamin C supplementation. The results showed that the average number of respondents' leukocytes increased after maximal physical activity (∆ = 6,775) and after vitamin C supplementation 100 mg (∆ = 1300) and 500 mg (∆ = 550). Paired t-test showed a significant difference (p = 0.019) between the total of leukocytes before and after maximum physical activity. There was no significant difference between the supplementation of vitamin C at a dose of 100 mg (p = 0.09) and a dose of 500 mg (p = 0.95) on the total of leukocytes before and after maximum physical activity. So, it is concluded that maximum physical activity increases the number of leukocytes. However, there was no difference in the number of leukocytes before and after maximum physical activity in the supplementation of 100 mg and 500 mg of vitamin C
Kata Kunci: Menu Seimbang, Pelatih, Atlet, Papua ABSTRACT Nutrition is an important component that supports sports achievements. The availability of sports nutritionists is still limited in Papua. This led coaches in the regions to also serve as nutritionists. Coaches and Athletes also have limited knowledge and skilss regarding nutritional arrangements that suit the needs of athletes. The purpose of this service was to provide knowledge and skills regarding selecting a balanced menu for coaches and athletes. This activity was conducted in a series of activities of preparation of activities and the implementation. The method used in the implementation were education and mentoring. Education or delivery of material using lecture, discussion, practice and evaluation methods. A total of 48 participants (41 students and 6 teachers/trainers) took part in the activity which lasted for 1 day at 09.00 – 12.00 WIT. Participants followed the material enthusiastically until the end of the activity. This activity ran smoothly and the participants were able to understand the material and practice selecting menus for athletes. Hopefully, on an ongoing basis the knowledge and skills acquired might be applied to themselves or to their athletes. Keywords: Balanced Menu, Coaches, Athletes, Papua
Stunting is a disorder of growth and development of children due to chronic malnutrition and repeated infections, which are characterized by their length or height being below standard. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between mother's knowledge, family income and parenting style with stunting in toddlers aged 24-59 months in the working area of the Abepura Primary Health Center. This research is an observational study conducted using a cross-sectional study approach, carried out in October 2022. The number of samples was 71 respondents, namely all mothers who have toddlers in the working area of the Abepura Primary Health Center obtained through a purposive sampling technique. Collecting data on mother's knowledge, family income and parenting patterns used a questionnaire while determining stunting using the height for age indicator. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi Square test with an error rate of 95% using SPSS version 21. The results showed that there was a relationship between mother's knowledge and stunting, there was a relationship between family income and stunting and there was a relationship between parenting style and stunting.
The Application of 5M; Washing hands, Keeping a distance, Using masks, Avoiding crowds, and Reducing mobility are powerful weapons to prevent and break the chain of transmission of Covid 19 which until now is still mutating. Masks are recommended to always be worn when outside the home and when carrying out daily activities. Many people continue to wear masks when doing sports. The purpose of this study was to determine the hematological profile due to the use of masks at maximum physical activity. This study is a quasi-experimental study using a single group pretest-posttest design. The variables studied were the amount of hemoglobin, the number of hematocrits, the number of erythrocytes, and the number of leukocytes between before and after performing maximum physical activity. Data analysis was carried out by paired t-tests. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the amount of hemoglobin before and after maximum physical activity (p<0.05), there was a significant difference in the number of hematocrits before and after maximum physical activity (p <0.05), there was a significant difference in the number of erythrocytes before and after maximum physical activity (p<0.05), there was a significant difference in the number of leukocytes before and after maximum physical activity (p<0.05).
