Background: Dyslipidemia, characterized by elevated total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), as well as decreased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), has long been recognized as a major risk factor for age-related diseases. Recent studies have shown that exercise can be effective in mitigating dyslipidemia in older adults. The aim of this study was to systematically evaluate the effects of different exercise modalities (aerobic exercise [AE], resistance exercise [RE], aerobic+resistance exercise [AE+RE], and high-intensity interval training) on lipid profile in the elderly population, in order to identify the most effective exercise modality for maintaining lipid profile health in older adults. Methods: A comprehensive database search of PubMed, EBSCO, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang database. Eligible studies were individually assessed according to the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool version 2, and the data were analyzed and processed using RevMan 5.4.1 analysis software. Results: This study identified 20 randomized controlled trials with a total of 988 subjects, of which 541 were in the exercise group and 447 in the control group. Our analysis showed that AE significantly reduced TC (P < .05), triglycerides (P < .01), and LDL-C (P < .01), while increasing HDL-C (P < .01) in the elderly population. RE significantly reduced the elevation of TC (P < .01) and LDL-C (P < .05) indices in the elderly population, while AE+RE had a significant effect on decreasing TC (P < .01) and LDL-C (P < .01) indices. Conclusion: Our analysis indicates that AE is the most effective exercise modality for reducing dyslipidemia in older adults, compared to RE, AE+RE, and high-intensity interval training. These findings suggest that AE should be promoted as an important lifestyle intervention to improve lipid profile health in the elderly population. However, further research is needed to investigate the optimal duration, frequency, and intensity of AE required to achieve the most beneficial effects on lipid profile health in older adults.
Objective This study aims to explore the effect of exercise on obese female patients after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectom. Methods Sixteen obese women after weight loss were randomly divided into the exercise group (EG,n = 8) and the control group (CG,n = 8).The EG received aerobic combined resistance training for 4 weeks, 3 times a week (training every other day) for 70 minutes, while the CG did not participate in any exercise.The dietitian for each subject formulated the diet plan according to their postoperative diet management. Results The HC decreased more in the CG than in the EG, with a significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). The decrease in BF%,TF, and VFA in the EG was greater than that in the CG, and the difference was significant.(P < 0.05). The BRM decreased more in the CG than in the EG, with a significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). The HR, SBP and DBP in the EG were lower than those in the pre-test, and HR decreased significantly after exercise, while those in the CG showed an upward trend. The range of changes before and after FBG in the CG was higher than that in the EG, and there was a very significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.01), while the HDL-C in the CG decreased significantly compared with the pre-test, while the EG showed an upward trend, and there was a very significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.01). The 6MWT, STS and ACT of the two groups were significantly higher than those of the pretest, and the improvement of 6MWT and STS EG was higher than that of the CG. Conclusions Aerobic combined resistance training can (1) improve body weight proportion, reduce body fat content and slow down the loss of protein and skeletal muscle. (2) maintain the relative stability of FBG and has a specific effect on improving hypoglycemia.The increase of HDL-C level after weight loss surgery is related to exercise. (3) plays a positive role in the decrease of heart rate and blood pressure after weight loss surgery.
Background: bariatric surgery is one of the most popular weight-loss methods at present, which can significantly reduce the weight of obese patients and improve the complications. Through 4-week exercise intervention and routine postoperative management control, the changes of subjects' indexes were observed to provide reference for making scientific exercise plan.Methods: 17 subjects were randomly divided into two groups, EG (n=8) and CG (n=9). The exercise group received online exercise intervention for 4 weeks, 3 times a week, while the CG did not participate in exercise. The related indexes of EG and control group before and after exercise intervention were detected and analyzed.Results: The HC of the control group was better than that of the EG (P < 0.05). The improvement of WHR in EG is better than that in CG (P < 0.01). The decrease of TF in EG is better than that in CG (P < 0.05). The decrease of BMR was better than that of the CG (P < 0.05). The effect of lowering FBG in the CG is better than that in the EG (P < 0.01). EG improved HDL-C better than CG (P < 0.01).Conclusion: (1) the CG has a greater effect on reducing WC, and exercise has a more significant effect on reducing WHR and TF and BMR. (2) the CG has a greater effect on reducing FBG, but exercise can adjust the relative stability of FBG level. Exercise can improve HDL-C obviously.
