A set of Co x Pt100−x nanoparticles (NPs) was synthesized by the sol–gel method. The structure and magnetic properties of the produced samples were investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and a vibrating sample magnetometer. When the Co content ranged from 25 to 75 at%, the results of XRD, HRTEM and SAED revealed the formation of L12 CoPt3, L10 CoPt and face-centred cubic Co3Pt NPs. Magnetic measurements indicated that CoPt3 and Co3Pt had soft magnetic properties. When the Co composition was 50 at%, the sample coercivity reached a giant value of ∼470 kA m−1.

Air permeability is crucial to nanofibrous membrane applications, such as in wound dressing and membrane distillation. Herein, hierarchical structure membrane is prepared layer by layer with different fiber diameters, using electrospinning method. The results showed that with different layer arrangement results in different air permeability, and optimal condition is found.

The response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the conditions for total flavonoid extraction from Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi. The influences of the ethanol concentration, extraction time, temperature, and the liquid-solid ratio on flavonoid yield were investigated. Based on ANOVA results, a secondorder quadratic polynomial model could be applied to characterize the extraction process. The following optimal extraction conditions were identified: ethanol concentration, 52.98 %; extraction time, 2.12 h; extraction temperature, 62.46°C; and liquid-solid ratio, 35.23. The predicted extraction yield was 19.437 mg/g when these optimal conditions were used. The proposed method was successfully employed to extract flavonoids from S. baicalensis.
