Lean Management builds the basis for efficient production systems for many industrial companies. However, lots of potentials of Lean Management have been lifted and information and communication technologies in the context of digitalization and cyber-physical production systems (CPPS) offer new possibilities to enhance the performance of companies. Even though surveys indicate that companies recognize these potentials, especially small and medium-sized companies still face challenges in selection and implementation of suitable solutions. Thus, the research project GaProSys 4.0 aims at supporting companies with a systematic approach to combine existing structures of Lean Management with potentials of digitalization in development of a new set of methods to enhance production systems. This paper presents the approach of the research project to develop a structured set of methods and provides an example to illustrate the potentials.
The Production Planning and Control of industrial companies is often based on an inaccurate data basis. The increasing availability and quality of data through the technologies and elements of Industrie 4.0 open up promising potentials for increasing efficiency. This paper presents the impacts of Industrie 4.0 technologies and elements on Production Planning and Control that have been studied by a deductive research design. Through a quantitative analysis of these impacts, an orientation for the choice of Industrie 4.0 technologies and elements is provided in order to support the planning activities of the PPC in a targeted manner.
Adherence to schedules takes an exposed position as a production-logistic objective, as it directly influences customer satisfaction and delivery date deviations are often linked to contractual penalties. This paper provides a stage-model to support systematically the scheduling security by integrating Industrie 4.0 approaches into the scheduling process.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
