We examined the diagnostic use of isotropic diffusion-weighted (DW) MRI in 140 consecutive patients suspected of or diagnosed as having an ischaemic stroke. Isotropic DW imaging could demonstrate the lesion responsible for the clinical deficit in patients with multiple cerebral infarcts at an early stage, even small lesions without a perifocal oedema or mass effect. Accurate diagnosis by DW images may, however, be difficult about 2 weeks after the onset of stroke.
The difference in MPO between women with abnormal and normal menstrual cycles and the upregulation of MPO before ovulation suggest that neutrophils and MPO are closely related to ovulation.
Oral communication abstracts n = 18), healthy placenta (+20%, n = 74), pathological placenta (+6.5%, n = 36), healthy fetuses (+13%, n = 53) and hypotrophic fetuses (+6.5%, n = 34). Importantly, the increase was significantly lower in pathological than healthy foeto-placental units (+6.5 vs. +20%, P < 0.001 and +6.5 vs. +13%, P < 0.001 for placenta and fetuses respectively). Conclusions: BOLD contrast MRI allowed assessing non-invasively placental and fetal oxygenation. This method provided to distinguish healthy from pathological foeto-placental units in a rat model of IUGR.
Electronic poster abstractsdetermined the percentile values and Z scores of EFW for twins. We evaluated the growth of twins by comparing the reference for twins to that for singletons. Results: A total of 705 women were recruited for the study, and 364 (190 dichorionic and 174 monochorionic) were ultimately included. The total number of ultrasonographic examinations was 7,904. The 50 th percentile values of EFW for twins at 20, 28 and 36 weeks were 308, 1,075 and 2,304 g, respectively. The 50 th percentile values for twins were 98%-101% of the median of singletons until 21 weeks, gradually growing lighter than singletons and reaching 90%-93% of that after 27 weeks. The Z scores of -1.5 for twin pregnancies corresponded to -1.6 to -1.5 for singletons between 20 and 26 weeks and -2 after 29 weeks. Conclusions: We established an EFW reference for Japanese twin pregnancies. The EFW of twins was similar to that of singletons until the mid-second trimester, gradually growing lighter than singletons and reaching 90%-93% of singletons in the third trimester. It may be useful to recognise the features of growth in twins and to use the EFW reference for twins when managing twin pregnancies.
EP12.09Umbilical vein blood flow at 11-13 weeks of gestation in twin pregnancy is associated with fetal growth
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
