AbstractAccording to recent research, fanfictions are inextricably linked to linguistic texts and writings. Conversely, pictures or movies are regarded as accessories or ancillary productions rather than as intentional creative works. However, audiovisual fanfictions do exist and are the manifestation of multimodal literacy. First, this article put foward an historical and epistomological analysis which might explain why this discrepancy still persist. Second, the article argues that some legitimization effects could have distort the concept of fanfictions. Through a corpus of fanvids, it demonstrates that fanfictions are literally ways of self-expression among the fandom and shows how much audiovisual narrative might be a valuable production and interpretation tool.Mots-clés : fanfiction, fanvidéo, littératie audiovisuelle, sujet multimodal, écriture.
