As microdisplay systems get more affordable for various applications, needs of larger field-of-view becomes important typically for a near-to-eye application. However, for near-to-eye application, pincushion distortion is hard to avoid due to the high magnification of optics for the systems. In this paper, we propose a novel architecture and algorithm for real-time correction of the distortion without using traditional radial and tangential modeling. We confirm that the performance of our proposed scheme which is implemented on field programmable gate array (FPGA) by testing with FHD liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) panel.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
