Estimates of Carbon Stok in the Mangrove Area in Timbulsloko Village,Demak, Central Java Mangrove ecosystem is one of the ecosystem that play a role in reducing carbon in the air. One of the functions of mangrove is to store carbon from the air form of biomass in the body parts of mangrove plants. This research on the estimation of carbon stocks is needed to support the improvement of world climate. Today the world is experiencing a global crisis called climate change. The purpose of this research are estimate of carbon stock on stands and substrate in mangrove area of Timbulsloko Village. This research used purposive sampling and explorative method, conducted in three stations with varying mangrove ecosystem conditions. The research was divided into three research plots per station to calculate the stand biomass value using allometric formula in estimating carbon stocks of mangrove area. Substrate carbon data obtained from the content of substrate organic materials analyzed at Laboratorium. Based on the result of research, it is found that carbon stock in mangrove stands is 12.370,8 ton/ha, while estimation of carbon stock on mangrove substrate is 1.307 ton/ha. These results show that estimates of carbon stocks in mangrove stands are greater than estimates of carbon stocks on mangrove substrates. The estimation of carbon stocks on mangrove stands increases with increasing of plant biomass and mangrove density, while estimates of carbon stocks on the substrate are suspected to be more influenced by organic materials and research sites.

Mangrove ecosystem has an important role for the coastal ecosystem in Sabu Raijua which is included in the TNP Laut Sawu conservation area. Its designation as a water conservation area indicates that the area is an important for the protection of fishery diversity and other marine resources. Mangroves play an important role for the diversity of marine biota because of their role as a breeding ground, foraging, and nursery ground for various types of marine biota. For this reason, the role of mangrove ecosystems as supporting conservation areas is very important. The functioning of the mangrove ecosystem can be seen based on the community structure and ecosystem quality conditions. This study aims to determine the condition of the community structure and health conditions of mangroves on Sabu Raijua Island. The survey location was obtained at 5 observation stations spread across Sabu Island. The results showed that 8 species of mangrove were identified with the dominance of Mangrove Lumnitzera racemosa with an IVI value of 191%. The percentage of canopy cover found ranged from 33 – 58% with an average value of 46%. Density ranges from 23 – 45 ind/plot, with an average of 31 ind/plot. The Mangrove Health Index (MHI) value in was 36.51 ± 14.05% which is included in the Moderate category. The high value of the standard deviation (14.05) indicates that there are still mangrove locations in Sabu Raijua that have poor conditions (Poor).
The mangrove ecosystem is a coastal ecosystem that is important for humans. Mangroves absorb carbon in the atmosphere and store it in biomass or sediment. So, in other words, mangroves play a significant role in mitigating global climate change. This study aimed to examine the structure of the mangrove ecosystem composition and estimate standing carbon stocks on Sangiang Island, Banten. The data taken was for the categories of trees, saplings, and seedlings (consisting of mangrove species, DBH, and height). The study was conducted at three stations with three replications for each station. The allometric formula obtained the estimated carbon stock from the stand biomass value. The results showed that 11 species of mangrove species were found with an average density of 1266 ind/ha (trees), 3733 ind/ha (saplings), and <70% (seedlings). Then the estimated average carbon stock in Sangiang Island, Banten is 271.29 tons/ha.
Highlight Research The very first attempt to investigated and revealing biodiversity of crustacean crab in coral reef ecosystem at Tidung Island, Indonesia Conservation area (Tidung Kecil) has more abundant crab species than tourism area (Tidung Besar). A microhabitat that suffers anthropogenic pressure may alter the composition of crustacean biodiversity, especially in crab group. Different characteristics and complexity of coral habitat affect the dynamics of cryptic crustacean communities Abstract Recent studies have been widely carried out on the important role and ecological function of coral reefs. However, little attention has been given to small and cryptic crustaceans organisms living within different microhabitat in dead corals. This study aimed to reveal the diversity of crustaceans that inhabit dead corals in Tidung Islands, Indonesia. A total of 134 individuals from 41 species in 13 families were recorded within eight dead corals taken from two different sites. Furthermore, the species identified from Tidung Kecil were significantly different and more diverse than Tidung Besar. It was suggested that differences in anthropogenic pressure between Tidung Besar and Kecil might have an important role in the spread of crab crustaceans’ organisms. Xanthidae from infraorder Brachyura were observed to be the most dominant family, while Galatheidae and Porcellanidae from infraorder Anomura spread almost equally in both sites. Additionally, Psaumis cavipes and Chlorodiella nigra were species with the largest contribution of crab crustaceans’ communities in the death of coral’s ecosystem in the Tidung Islands. This result indicated that dead corals might play a key role in supporting and providing a habitat for crustacean cryptic.
