O crescimento da população idosa tem intensificado a demanda por profissionais e serviços de saúde. As particularidades deste público trazem à tona questões relacionadas com a dignidade dos idosos, que aqui estão focadas na relação terapeuta-paciente. Dessa forma, o objetivo foi verificar nos artigos científicos nacionais que relacionam o profissional de saúde e o paciente idoso as questões bioéticas apontadas. Revisão bibliográfica de artigos nacionais sobre “a relação do profissional de saúde com o paciente idoso”, verificados desde de 2010, nas bases de dados SciELO, LILACS e Medline, pelos termos: idoso e bioética, relação do profissional de saúde com o paciente, relação médico paciente e seus correspondentes na língua inglesa. Os artigos foram analisados qualitativamente e os temas bioéticos elencados em categorias. Dos 7 artigos selecionados, 3 são de opinião do profissional e outros 4 sobre a opinião do idoso. Os aspectos bioéticos apontados nestes estudos foram destacados nas categorias: cuidado humanizado do idoso, ética profissional e autonomia do paciente idoso. Quanto ao cuidado humanizado, houve destaque na importância da comunicação, empatia e construção do vínculo. Já, a ética profissional foi abordada, demonstrando a preocupação dos pesquisadores em valorizar o respeito, a responsabilidade e o compromisso para com o paciente. E, a autonomia foi discutida como essencial para um atendimento de qualidade, em que as ações dos profissionais de saúde devem ser compatíveis com as expectativas desses pacientes. Os estudos buscaram identificar na relação entre profissional de saúde e paciente idoso os benefícios terapêuticos e a adesão ao tratamento proposto.
