IntroduçãoA mecanização agrícola contribuiu com o aumento de produtividade e condições de trabalho menos árduo ao agricultor. Com o aumento da mecanização houve o acréscimo do número de acidentes que causam danos econômicos às empresas agrícolas e danos físicos aos operadores de máquinas agrícolas, que podem impossibilitar definitivamente o operador de exercer sua atividade laboral, levando em alguns casos ao óbito deste.Segundo Monteiro et al. (2010), o antigo conceito de tratorista, aquele operador que somente ''dirigia'' o trator, está totalmente ultrapassado. Alguns anos atrás essa filosofia foi substituída pelo operador de máquinas, atribuindo a esse profissional não somente a função de movimentar o trator, mas também fazê-lo de forma correta e segura.Pesquisas na área de prevenção de acidentes buscam, através da investigação dos acidentes com máquinas agrícolas, apontar as principais causas destes para que possam ser investidos recursos na causa raiz do problema.Segundo Debiasi et al. (2004), a maior parte dos acidentes com tratores é causada por atitudes inseguras, sendo que a principal é a perda de controle em aclive ou declive, seguida da operação do trator em condições extremas. Já para Schlosser et al. (2002), a inclusão de dispositivos que tornem o trator mais confortável e seguro é uma das estratégias necessárias à redução da incidência de acidentes.Observa-se que os autores divergem quanto a causa principal dos acidentes. Enquanto que para uns o causador dos acidentes é o operador, para outros há uma coparticipação da máquina nesses incidentes.Assim, o presente trabalho objetivou avaliar, em nível regional, qual a principal causa de acidentes envolvendo atividades com tratores agrícolas. Além disso, o trabalho busca relacionar dados que contribuam o entendimento dessas causas. Por fim, quer alertar a sociedade, sob forma de treinamento, quanto à necessidade de adoção de medidas de prevenção dos mesmos.
RESUMO A horticultura catarinense representa importante papel na economia do estado. Como hortaliça de maior destaque econômico, a cebola tem sua produção concentrada nas pequenas propriedades rurais. O aumento de produtividade só foi possível com a utilização de maquinário agrícola versátil e de baixo custo. Os tratores de rabiças foram instrumentos que permitiram esse avanço e de forma indireta mantiveram o horticultor no campo. Mas a utilização intensiva dessas máquinas sem cuidados essenciais na sua operação trouxe reflexos negativos para a saúde destes trabalhadores. Evidenciou-se o aumento na quantidade de acidentes nas últimas décadas. Este número é pouco preciso e as causas desconhecidas, uma vez que não são computados nem mesmo como acidentes de trabalho. Esta pesquisa busca caracterizar causas dos acidentes com tratores de rabiças no contexto do cultivo da cebola, identificando o perfil do acidentado e em que circunstância ocorreu o acidente. Para isso foi utilizada pesquisa tipo levantamento (survey) através de questionários semiestruturados respondidos por 79 agricultores. A ferramenta estatística foi a correlação entre variáveis, por meio do coeficiente de Pearson, a uma significância de 0,1%. Foram investigadas as correlações entre as variáveis: faixa etária do acidentado, potência do trator, membro afetado, severidade do acidente, causa genérica e causas específicas. Constatou-se que a faixa etária mais suscetível foi dos 10 aos 20 anos (21,7%), a causa genérica foi atitude insegura (60,8%) e as causas específicas mais citadas foram falta de atenção (28,0%), perda de controle em aclive/declive (23,3%), falha mecânica (12,7%), falta de proteção (11,3%) e operação da máquina em condições extremas (10,7%). As correlações mais significativas foram entre a idade e a atitude insegura e a idade e falta de atenção.
