RESUMOAvaliar a saúde mental dos estudantes de medicina durante o período de isolamento social decorrente da pandemia de COVID-19 e caracterizar o perfil da amostra por meio de um questionário com dados sociodemográficos, identificando o percentual de estudantes com sintomas de estresse, ansiedade e depressão e comparar os escores da escala DASS -21 em relação ao sexo, idade e ano cursado em estudantes do curso de medicina. Estudo de campo, descritivo, exploratório, transversal com abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa, realizado com acadêmicos a partir dos 18 anos, matriculados no curso de Medicina do Centro Universitário de Patos de Minas. Para avaliar a saúde mental dos acadêmicos, foi utilizada a versão brasileira da escala de depressão, ansiedade e estresse (DASS-21). A amostra foi composta por 91 estudantes, sendo 69 mulheres e 22 homens, com média de idade de 21,95 anos. Desses, 18,7% não manifestaram indício de transtorno mental, enquanto 81,3% apresentaram sintomas de depressão, ansiedade ou estresse em algum nível acima do normal. Dentre esses, 40,5% manifestaram sintomas dos três transtornos simultaneamente acima da normalidade. Além disso, foi verificado pelo teste de Fisher correlação entre depressão e estresse com o desejo de desistir do curso. É possível correlacionar os resultados com os sentimentos de solidão, ansiedade e apatia que surgiram durante a pandemia, uma vez que são consequências em um contexto de isolamento social. Observa-se altos índices de depressão, ansiedade e estresse em estudantes de medicina durante o período pandêmico.
