Digestion of 32P-labeled rabbit muscle phosphorylase a with various proteolytic enzymes has shown that the rate of release of phosphopeptides from the enzyme is greater than the overall rate of proteolysis, suggesting that the phosphorylation in the phosphorylase b to a conversion occurs on a particularly exposed or less highly organized region of the enzyme molecule.
