Non-operative management is the treatment of choice for polytraumatized patients with blunt liver trauma who are hemodynamically stable. Non-operative management is an effective and safe treatment strategy. However, patients with an RTS score under 7.8 and other intra-abdominal non-liver injuries are at increased risk for an immediate surgical intervention.

El objetivo del estudio fue determinar el efecto de un programa de aprendizaje de las capacidades coordinativas sobre el tiempo en la prueba de patinaje de 300 metros contra reloj individual y la coordinación general. Participaron 14 niños y niñas entre los seis y ocho años de edad que fueron asignados aleatoriamente al grupo experimental (n=7) o grupo control (n=7); la media de la edad del grupo experimental fue 8,1 años (DE=0.5) y la media del grupo control 7,6 años (DE=0.82); con una experiencia deportiva igual para ambos grupos (16 meses). El grupo experimental tuvo un entrenamiento adicional de coordinación antes de la sesión cotidiana durante 20 sesiones distibuidas en siete semanas. El programa constó de 15 ejercicios en escalerilla realizados en cada sesión asi: tres ejercicios con dos series de 10 repeticiones y recuperación de 30 segundos en la primera serie y dos minutos después de la segunda. El grupo control no recibió estímulo adicional y continuó con el entrenamiento cotidiano del patinaje. Se realizó pre y post-test donde se midió la velocidad con la prueba de 300 m contra reloj individual en patines y la coordinación de los niños con el test Korperkoordination Test fur Kinder. Los resultados mostraron que existen diferencias significativas en las comparaciones intra-grupo, sin embargo, al realizar la comparación inter-grupos, se constató que no existen diferencias significativas (p= 0.180) en velocidad, pero en la práctica del patinaje estas diferencias son relevantes porque determinan una disminución en el tiempo de una prueba contra reloj, que puede significar un cambió ecológico significativo.Abstract. The research objective was to determine the effect of a learning program for coordination skills on the time of the 300-meter rollerblading test against individual clock and on general coordination. A sample of 14 boys and girls between six and eight years old, who were randomly assigned to experimental group (n=7) or control group (n=7) participated in the study; average age of the experimental group was 8,1 years old (SD=0,5), whereas in the control group it was 7,6 years old (SD=0.82); participants from both groups had similar sports experience (16 months). During 20 sessions over seven weeks, the experimental group received additional coordination training before each daily session. The program consisted of 15 ladder exercises, where in each session three exercises were performed with two sets of 10 repetitions and recovery of 30 seconds in the first series and two minutes after the second. The control group did not receive additional stimulus and continued with daily rollerblading training. Pre- and post-test were performed, with speed being measured during the 300m test against individual clock, whilst children's coordination was assessed with the Korperkoordination Test fur Kinder Test. The results showed significant differences in intra-group comparisons; however, when performing the inter-group comparison, no significant differences (p = 0.180) were found in speed. Nonetheless, in rollerblading practice these differences are relevant, because they determine a decrease in the time of a test against the clock, which may mean a significant ecological change.

Objetivo: Describir las aptitudes físicas en niños futbolistas entre los siete a 11 años. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo con 41 participantes seleccionados de forma no probabilística. La fuerza, resistencia, velocidad y flexibilidad fueron medidas. Resultados: A los siete años, el 66.6 % se encuentra entre el percentil (P) P50 y P97 en la flexibilidad; en la resistencia, entre el P50 y P75; mientras que la prueba de velocidad de reacción obtuvo un bajo desempeño (66.6 %). En los ocho años, se clasificó entre el P50 y P97 en las pruebas de lanzamiento atrás y lanzamiento horizontal, pero en la prueba de velocidad de 20 m el 66 % fue pobre. Un 75 % de los deportistas de nueve años, en la prueba de velocidad, se encuentran en un P menor a 25; en contraste, en la flexibilidad, el 50 % fue bueno. En la velocidad de reacción, los niños de 10 años están entre el P75 y P97, con un 46.6 %, mientras que en la resistencia el 66.6 % fue pobre. Los niños de 11 años, en las pruebas de salto horizontal y velocidad de 20 m, fueron extremadamente buenos. Al analizar la resistencia y flexibilidad no se encontraron diferencias significativas (p > .05). Por el contrario, entre la velocidad máxima, velocidad de reacción y fuerza explosiva hubo diferencias estadísticas (p < .05) al comparar entre las edades. Conclusiones: El desempeño mejora a medida que aumenta la edad, sin incluir la prueba de velocidad de 20 m y la resistencia en 1000 m, que tuvieron una relación inversa a la edad. Abstract. Objective: To describe the physical aptitudes in children between seven and 11 years. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional design with 41 participants selected in a non-probabilistic way. Strength, endurance, speed, and flexibility were measured. Results: At the age of seven, 66.6% are between the 50th and 97th percentile in flexibility; endurance the same amount between the 50th and 75th percentile, while the reaction speed test obtained a low performance in 66.6%. At the age of 8 years 66% were classified between the 50th and 97th percentile in the back throw and horizontal throw tests, but in the 20 m speed test 66% were poor. 75% of the nine-year-old participants in a lower than 25th percentile for speed, in contrast to flexibility, 50% were good. In reaction speed, 10-year-old children are between the 75th and 97th percentile with 46.6%, while in endurance, 66.6% was poor. The 11-year-olds in the horizontal jump and 20-meter sprint tests were extremely good (44%) and good (55.5%). When analyzing endurance and flexibility, no statistically significant differences were found (p > .05) between the seven and 11 years. While the aptitudes of maximum speed, reaction speed, strength and explosive strength, there were statistically significant differences (p < .05) when comparing the ages. Conclusions: Performance improves as age increases, not including the 20 m speed test and the 1000 m endurance which was inversely related to age.

El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar las diferencias de rendimiento en la fuerza máxima en sentadilla y banca plana, flexibilidad y composición corporal en los competidores de Crossfit® según su categoría. El diseño del estudio fue no experimental descriptivo de carácter transversal. Los participantes fueron 30 sujetos (edad 26.6 ± 5.2 años; masa 77 ± 9.4 kg; talla 172.8 ± 7 cm) practicantes de Crossfit® a nivel competitivo en las categorías intermedio, avanzado y elite. La fuerza máxima fue evaluada con la prueba de repetición máxima en sentadilla y banca plana; la flexibilidad se midió con el Flexitest y la composición corporal con bio-impedancia. Se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p < .001) en la fuerza máxima al comparar las categorías competitivas. Estos valores de fuerza máxima aumentan a medida que avanza la categoría de competición. Sin embargo, no hubo diferencias en la flexibilidad, masa, porcentaje de grasa o porcentaje de masa muscular. The purpose of this study was to determine performance differences in maximal squat and flat bench strength, flexibility, and body composition in CrossFit® competitors according to their category. The study design was non-experimental descriptive in a cross-sectional nature. The participants were 30 subjects (age 26.6 ± 5.2 years; mass 77 ± 9.4 kg; height 172.8 ± 7 cm) who practiced CrossFit® at a competitive level in the intermediate, advanced, and elite categories. Maximum strength was determined using the flat bench chest press and squat in the one repetition maximum test; flexibility was determined using the Flexitest; and body composition was determined using bio-impedance. When comparing the competitive categories, statistically significant differences (p < .001) in maximum strength were discovered. These values increase as the competition category progresses. However, there were no differences in flexibility, mass, percentage of fat, or percentage of muscle mass.
