Caminhar é uma atividade humana universal. Sua história é perpassada por uma espécie de prazer, liberdade e significados que pessoas diferentes procuram em momentos diversos. Pensando nessa direção, a história do caminhar proposta por Rebecca Solnit (2016) trilha percursos que vão desde a origem do bipedalismo até a caminhada na cidade. Para isso, a autora delineia argumentos que giram em torno do fato de que andar ereto é o primeiro marco do que viria a se tornar a humanidade. Entre os muitos caminhos que esse trajeto envolve, um deles está centrado na atividade de leitura do caminhar para descrever o mundo, fato que certamente contribuiu para que experiências itinerantes servissem como método de ficção. É assim que, ao considerar que há no fato de se deslocar na paisagem algo que estimula e aviva os pensamentos, Solnit evidencia que, no decorrer do tempo em que caminhar deixou de ser apenas uma atividade de descolamento para se tornar uma experiência, foram desenvolvidos métodos ficcionais como o fluxo de consciência e personagens andarilhos como o flâneur. Nessa rede imbricada de ideias e trajetos, acredita-se que as diferentes variações do deslocamento a pé representam ações políticas, estéticas e de grande significado social.
Poeta e engenheiro, sintonizado, desde a juventude, com invenções das ciências e de literaturas diversas, Joaquim Cardozo [1897-1978] foi, sem dúvida, um dos grandes expoentes literários do Brasil. As formas de perceber e retratar o espaço revelam na sua poesia ideias como a de pertencimento e a maneira de estar no mundo. Neste sentido, considerando a literatura como um depositório de relações estabelecidas entre o homem e o meio, o tema deste artigo é a cidade do Recife como referência da criação poética cardoziana. A fim de lançar luz sobre o teor comunicativo de sua obra, o principal objetivo do trabalho é verificar como se configuram as imagens da cidade no poema “As janelas, as escadas, as pontes e as estradas”, de Mundos paralelos [1970], em busca de ressaltar o modo de como a inspiração do social encontra uma expressão estética. Para tal, buscamos aporte teórico-crítico no pensamento de estudiosos como Cantarelli (2014), Leal (2007) e Maia (2010).
Este artigo busca analisar a figuração da cidade na poética de Joaquim Cardozo [1897-1978] considerando a dimensão modernista de sua obra. Para tal, realizamos um estudo acerca da cidade do Recife impressa na literatura com base na análise dialética de “Tarde no Recife” [1925], “Recife de Outubro” [1947] e “Recife Morto” [1924], todos eles publicados no volume Poemas (1947), tendo como aporte teórico crítico o pensamento de Berman (2007), Benjamin (1994), Bosi (2000), Chevalier & Gheerbrant (2015), Paz (1996) e Rezende (2008). Com isso, objetiva-se interpretar a cidade como um lugar de memória na qual a obra do autor funciona como um ato comunicativo de significativa relevância histórica de um sistema social marcado por um mundo mergulhado no progresso inexorável do capitalismo e, consequentemente, na reformulação do espaço, como uma perpétua mudança do tempo.
