The frequencies of occurrence of patterns in five fields of the sub-toe area of soles in 1,600 men and 1,600 women from 15 voivodships of northern Poland were demonstrated. The bilateral and intersexual differences were examined and the obtained results compared with the pattern frequencies in the population from central and south-eastern Poland.
The density of dermal ridges in the interdigital fields of palm was examined on the sample of 200 adult men and 200 adult women. Bilateral and sexual differences were taken into consideration. On stating 3 cathegories of the density of dermal ridges for every sex, the correlation between the density and the total ridge count in the subdigital area of palm was examined.
DIFFERENTIATION AND INHERITANCE OF THE NUMBER OF DERMAL RIDGES ON THE THE NAR AND HYPOTHENAR OF THE PALM were determined for 260 sets of parents and 290 children. The data obtained were statistically analysed.-The traits analysed did not show any bilateral or intersexual diffe rences. The correlations between parents and children indicate genetic determination of the number of dermatoglyphs in both studied areas of the palm.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
