Kompetenzerwerb im freiwilligen EngagementSchriften des Deutschen Jugendinstituts: Jugend Das Deutsche Jugendinstitut e. V. (DJI) ist ein zentrales sozialwissenschaftliches Forschungsinstitut auf Bundesebene mit den Abteilungen "Kinder und Kinderbetreuung", "Jugend und Jugendhilfe", "Familie und Familienpolitik", "Zentrum für Dauerbeobachtung und Methoden", dem Forschungsschwerpunkt "Übergänge in Arbeit" sowie den Forschungsgruppen "Gender und Lebensplanung" und "Migration, Integration und interethnisches Zusammenleben". Es führt sowohl eigene Forschungsvorhaben als auch Auftragsforschungsprojekte durch. Die Finanzierung erfolgt überwiegend aus Mitteln des Bundesministeriums für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend und im Rahmen von Projektförderung aus Mitteln des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung. Weitere Zuwendungen erhält das DJI von den Bundesländern und Institutionen der Wissenschaftsförderung.
ZusammenfassungIn der aktuellen Diskussion um Bildung und Lernen wird jetzt auch in Deutschland dem "Informellen Lernen" verstärkte Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet. Die Autoren halten diesen Begriff allerdings für unscharf und sprechen daher von "Lernen in informellen Kontexten". Der Beitrag bezieht sich auf erste Ergebnisse eines empirischen Forschungsprojekts der Universität Dortmund und des Deutschen Jugendinstituts zu informellen Lernprozessen Jugendlicher in Settings des freiwilligen Engagements. Nach einer kurzen Darstellung des Forschungsdesigns werden, basierend auf einer ersten Analyse der in der Explorationsphase des Projektes geführten Interviews, die besonderen Strukturbedingungen der untersuchten Settings (Jugendverbände, Initiativen und Organisationen der politischen Interessenvertretung) sowie die Lernchancen in diesen Kontexten beschrieben. Im abschließenden Teil des Beitrags werden erste Ergebnisse zu den Wirkungen und Ergebnissen des Lernens durch Verantwortungsübernahme im freiwilligen Engagement vorgestellt. Bereits in der Explorationsphase konnten eine Reihe unterschiedlichster, im Engagement entwickelter Kompetenzen identifiziert werden. Neben der Möglichkeit personale, soziale, fachliche und organisatorische Kompetenzen zu erwerben oder zu erweitern, scheint eine freiwillige Verantwortungsübernahme vielfältige Chancen der Persönlichkeitsentwicklung, der biografischen Orientierung, der Sinnstiftung sowie der Teilhabe an der Erwachsenenwelt zu eröffnen.Schlüsselwörter: Lernen in informellen Kontexten; freiwilliges Engagement; ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit; Kompetenzerwerb; Persönlichkeitsentwicklung
