The development of innovative chemistry learning material for bilingual Senior High School (SHS) students in Indonesia is explained. The study is aimed to obtain an innovative chemistry learning material based on national curriculum in Indonesia to be used as a learning media in the teaching and learning activities. The learning material is developed by enhancing the chemistry topics to meet the requirement of a national curriculum followed by integration of laboratory experiments, learning media, and contextual application of the relevant chemistry topics. The material is then designed in printed and electronic bases. The performance of developed chemistry material is standardized to meet good quality learning material for class purposes. The results showed that the performance of developed chemistry materials is categorized as very good. The developed learning material is found effective to be used in teaching and learning process, and be able to motivate the students to learn chemistry. The facilities provided in the material are adequate to guide the student to study chemistry independently that make learning activities moving from teacher centre learning become students centre learning. Students achievements in experimental class (M = 83.0) is found higher than that with control class (M = 73.5), where both are significantly different. There is a positive correlation between the student's motivations with the student's achievement in chemistry subject, where the correlation in experimental class (R² = 0.711) is better than in control class (R² = 0.467).
The research is intended to develop a Teacher Job-performance Model by considering causal relationship between teacher job-performance determinants i.e. Organizational Culture, Organizational Structure, and Work Motivation. It was found that path coefficient of organizational culture to work motivation is 0.333 at a significant level of < 0.05 and F = 17.553, where F calc. > F 1/141 = 3.908, at α < 0.05. In addition, path coefficients of organizational culture and work motivation to job-satisfaction are 0.225, and 0.263 respectively at a significant level of < 0.05 and F = 13.224, where F calc. > F 2/140 = 3.061, at α < 0.05. Furthermore, path coefficients of organizational culture, work motivation and job-satisfaction to job-performanc are 0.269, 0.236, and 0.193 respectively at a significant level of < 0.05, and F = 17.261, where F calc. > F 3/139 = 2.669, at α < 0.05. Finally, indirect effect of organizational culture on job-satisfaction and job-peformance through work motivation is 0.087, and 0.078 respectively. It is concluded that the Model suggested fits with data collected, as a result, it can be used for perdicting teacher job-performance, including teacher promotions and feedback for improving teacher performance.
Background: Improving students competence to provide appropriate knowledge and skills to deal with professional works becomes a challange in education nowdays. Objectives: This research is aimed to develop and implement an inovative learning material to be used as learning media in the teaching and learning activities to improve students' competence on chemistry. Materials and Methods: The procedures consist of the development and standardization of an innovative learning material with tasks instructions, preparation of research instruments of questionnaire and evaluation tests and implementation of an innovative learning material for teaching and learning activities in the class. Relevant contextual examples, laboratory works, students' activities, media and multimedia and hyperlink to trustworthy websites were integrated into a set of chemistry material to achieve innovative learning material. The instruction for students tasks was also included into the learning package to guide the students to achieve learning goal. Results and Conclusion: Set of learning package has been implemented as learning media in the experimental class on the teaching of chemistry. Compared to control class that used the existing textbook, students' performance in the experimental class was higher than that in control class. An innovative leaning package was discovered to be effective to guide the students to learn chemistry independently. The learning facilities integrated in the learning material help the students to understand chemistry concepts easily. The students enthusiastic to learn chemistry and familiar to use scientific documents to complete the given tasks, as well as having improved ability to write and organize their assignments. Innovative learning material has transformed the chemistry teaching and learning practice from lecturer oriented to students oriented.
Sarangbanua plant, known as Clerodendrumfragrans Vent Willd, is a division of the Verbanaceae family found in Simalungun district of Indonesia, which is traditionally used as medicinal plants. The antioxidant and antibacterial activities of the C. fragrans leave extract was prepared by dissolving it in non-polar to polar solvents and treated by DPPH (1,1diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazin) and diffusion methods. The results showed that the ethanol (polar) extract of the C. fragrans leaves had the highest antioxidant activity than ethyl acetate (semi-polar) and n-hexane (non-polar) extracts, which had IC 50 values of 22.37 ppm, 27.26 ppm, and 88.77 ppm respectively. Vitamin C as a positive controlled with the IC 50 value of 20.18 ppm. Furthermore, the ethyl acetate (semi-polar) extract of the C. fragrans leaves had the greatest inhibition value on Gram-positive bacteria of S. aureus (90.0%)with inhibitory zones of 11.25 ± 0.2 mm, meanwhile the n-hexane (non-polar) extract had the greatest inhibition against Gram-negative bacteria of the E.coli(77.21%)with inhibitory zones of 10.5±0.3 mm.
The most important factor to achieve learning success is the use of learning media as teaching materials. The learning media used must be interesting so that students will be more motivated and active in following the learning process. One effort to do is by developing the teaching materials integrated of Easy Sketch multimedia. This study aims to analyze teaching materials developed by using the Easy Sketch program on stoichiometric material. Research method using Development Research by stages Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE). The research instruments are questionnaire and objective test. The feasibility of using chemical learning media is analyzed based on the standard data of content, appearance, materials and programming. Data were obtained by using validation sheets that have been validated by a team of experts. The first step in development is the analysis of teaching materials available in Senior High School State Pangkatan, Labuhanbatu regency (SMA Negeri 1 Pangkatan, Labuhanbatu regency). The result of learning media X analysis as a whole is feasible and the learning media Y is quite feasible but still needs to be revised and developed.
Problem Based Learning (PBL) is one of the cooperative learning models that is often used today. To provide the best results, research is needed with PBL learning models assisted by instructional media that are easy and attract students to understand the material. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Prezi media with the Prezi-assisted Direct Instruction Learning model on student learning outcomes in colloidal material. The research will be conducted in MAN 2 Medan Model. The method used in this study is quasi experiment. The research sample was taken by purposive sampling technique and obtained a sample consisting of experimental classes which were taught by PBL learning models assisted by media prezi and control classes which were taught with Direct Assistance-assisted media prezi models. The research instrument in the study consisted of 25 test questions in the form of multiple choice questions, which had previously been through validation tests, difficulty level tests, different power tests, and reliability tests. Then the data is analyzed by calculating homogeneity and normality. And the research hypothesis was tested using 2-way ANAVA statistical test. The results obtained are the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Prezi media with the Preziassisted Direct Instruction Learning model on student learning outcomes in colloidal material.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
