PRODUCTION CULTIVATED UNDER DIFFERENT IRRIGATION DEPTH LEVELSABSTRACT: This work had the aim to verify the technical and economic feasibility of pea (Pisum satiums L.) yield under different irrigation depth levels, cultivated in greenhouse. It was used a completely randomized design (CRD), with five levels of replacement of water irrigation (50%, 75%, 100%, 125% and 150% of field capacity) with four replications. The crop was drip irrigated when the average soil water tension obtained from the tensiometers installed in the treatment of 100% was equivalent to 15 kPa. The results were affected by drought and water excess for total production of the plant and for number of beans for plant. The maximum productivity obtained was equal to 4,197 kg ha -1 for a water depth of 188.4 mm and the economic great irrigation depth was 187.4 mm; the greatest water use efficiency was 27.23 kg ha -1 mm -1 for a water depth of 86.25 mm. KEYWORDS:Pisum sativum L, greenhouse, economic great irrigation depth.
This study had the aim to verify the economic feasibility of red bell pepper (Capsicum annuum, L.) yield under different irrigation depths, cultivated in greenhouse. A completely randomized design (CRD) was used, with five levels of replacement of irrigation water (50, 75, 100, 125 and 150%) with four replications. Significant differences were found for number of fruits per plant and total production of the plant. The maximum productivity obtained was equal to 35,300 kg ha -1 for a water depth of 443.9 mm and the optimum economic irrigation water depth was 443.5 mm; higher economic returns are obtained by keeping the crop with a water content near field capacity, restoring the full amount of water consumed. The highest water use efficiency was 74.76 kg ha 1 mm -1 for a water depth of 334.1 mm.
IRRIGATED EGGPLANT CROP FUNCTION IN PROTECTED ENVIRONMENT 2 ABSTRACT Different irrigation depths were applied during eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) development in order to establish optimum crop irrigation strategies, considering different values for product price and energy costs. The experiment was carried out in a totally random experimental design with 5 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments consisted of 5 different irrigation depths: 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150% of the water replacement depths until field capacity condition. The results showed significant differences for all the analyzed variables: stem diameter, plant height, and yield. The total crop (kg.plant-1) showed a square response to the treatments, whereas the cost showed a linear function; the treatment of 229 liters per plant showed the highest yield, whereas the treatment of 227 liters per plant provided the highest investment turnover. Finally, we concluded that, according to the analyzed conditions, irrigations may be carried out in order to reach the maximum crop yield; also, the variation in price relationship (Pw/Py) did not proportionally affect the depth recommended to obtain the maximum economic efficiency. Palavras-chave: capacitância, feijão, tensão de água no soloIrrigation scheduling using alternative soil moisture sensor A B ST R A C T An alternative sensor using a capacitance measurement for determining soil moisture was developed and calibrated in the laboratory and evaluated by comparison with tensiometers in the irrigation of common bean. A completely randomized design was used with five replications and a factorial with two methods of management (alternative and tensiometer) and soil water tensions (20, 40 and 60 kPa). It was observed that regardless of the method, the bean yield was higher when subjected to stress of 39 kPa, however, irrigation management using the alternative method led to a greater number of irrigation and also the volume of water applied, with consequent reduction in water use efficiency compared to the use of tensiometers.
ABSTRACT:The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of calcium silicate to mitigate the effects of water deficiency in maize plants yield. A completely randomized factorial design, consisting of five combinations of calcium silicate (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100%) and five different soil moisture levels (30, 70, 100, 130, and 160%), was adopted. The following parameters were evaluated: soil matric potential, xylem water potential, silicon concentration, leaf dry weight, and dry mass
Toxoplasmosis is a worldwide zoonosis caused by Toxoplasma gondii. Ingestion of raw/undercooked meat is considering an important route of infection. Consumption of meat from equids is common in European and Asian countries and an increase in Brazil has been observed. The aim of this study was to evaluate occurrences of anti-T. gondii antibodies and risk factors relating to infection in equids slaughtered for human consumption in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Blood samples from 192 horses and 208 donkeys were collected in the exsanguination area during the slaughter. Serum samples were subjected to the indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT). Association analysis was performed using Pearson’s chi-square test (χ2) or Fisher’s exact test, to evaluate risk factors relating to the prevalence of seroreagents. Antibodies against T. gondii were found in 13.5% of the equids, with higher occurrence in horses (18.75%) than in donkeys (8.65%). Associations between seropositivity and the following variables were found (p ≤ 0.05): species, animal origin, purpose of rearing and source of water for animal consumption and contact with cats. Farms need to implement preventive measures to control T. gondii infection in these species and avert transmission of the parasite to the human population that will consume their meat.
A B ST R A C TEffects of different water tensions on soil applied in two phenological stages in pea (Pisum sativum L.) crop were evaluated in two experiments, both carried out in a completely randomized experimental design with four treatments and four repetitions. The treatments consisted of four different water tensions in soil: 15, 30, 60 and 120 kPa. The results showed significant differences for total production of the plant, for number of beans per plant and for mean weight of the bean, independently of the phenological phase in which the treatment of tension of water was applied in the soil; larger production decrease were observed in reproductive phase, showing that this one is more sensitive to water tensions in soil; the highest production was obtained with irrigation carried out under 15 kPa tension.
