Background The management of quality of life (QoL) in patients with cirrhosis is important due to the chronic nature of compensated cirrhosis. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of health education using health empowerment theory in patients with liver cirrhosis. Material/Methods Between January 2014 and November 2014, 30 patients who were hospitalized with liver cirrhosis patients were recruited to the study, as the study group. Health education was conducted using the principles of health empowerment theory. Between January 2013 and November 2013, 30 hospitalized cirrhosis patients were recruited as the control group, who were given conventional health education. The QoL scores and Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP II) scores were evaluated at hospital discharge and at two-month follow-up. The health knowledge awareness rate, activity of daily living (ADL), and health-promoting lifestyles were evaluated. Results On discharge from the hospital, understanding of the major clinical symptoms, etiology, diet and nutrition, use of medication, treatment, and disease awareness rates were significantly higher in the study group compared with the control group (all P<0.05). There were significant differences in ADL scores between the two groups at two-month follow-up (81.5±15.5 vs. 68.5±15.4; P=0.006). All HPLP II scores were higher in the study group compared with the control group at hospital discharge and at two-month follow-up (all P<0.05). Conclusions Patient health empowerment can improve the cognitive level and health behaviors of patients with liver cirrhosis, improve their ability to perform ADL, and improve their QoL.

ObjectiveMalnutrition is a common complication of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), and it is the risk factor of CKD prognosis. This study aim to evaluate the nutritional status of inpatients with CKD by using the Subjective Global Assessment (SGA), and to analyze the related factors of malnutrition; and to provide effective reference for early detection of malnutrition status in patients with CKD and timely nutrition intervention.MethodsA total of 426 patients (238 male patients, 188 female patients) aged 62.62 ± 14.61 and 61.14 ± 14.82, respectively admitted to the Nephrology Department of Wannan Medical College from February 2020 to December 2020 were selected and included in to this study by convenience sampling. 426 patients with CKD were evaluated by SGA. Human body weight, hemoglobin (Hb), total protein (TP), albumin (ALB), pre-albumin (PA), qualitative analysis of urinary protein and other laboratory indexes were collected and measured. The correlation between malnutrition and age, education, gender, diet, CKD stage and other factors was analyzed by spearman correlation analysis.ResultsThe incidence of malnutrition was 85.7% among 426 patients with CKD. Gender, age, education level, CKD stage, diabetes mellitus, weight loss and reduced food intake were related to SGA nutritional assessment (P &lt; 0.05). The expression levels of ALB, PA and Hb in the malnutrition group were significantly lower than those in the normal group (P &lt; 0.05). The degree of malnutrition in CKD patients was significant negatively correlated with the expression levels of ALB (r = −0.188), PA (r = −0.262) and Hb (r = −0.176) (P &lt; 0.05). The multivariate Logistic regression analysis model showed that female (OR = 2.155), ≥60 years old (OR = 7.671), weight loss (OR = 10.691), reduced food intake (OR = 28.953), moderate and severe serum ALB expression (OR = 3.391 and 8.326) were risk factors for malnutrition in patients with CKD (P &lt; 0.05). Malnutrition was correlated with the results of qualitative examination of urinary protein (r = 0.268, P &lt; 0.05).ConclusionGender, age, weight loss, reduced food intake, serum ALB expression were independently associated with malnutrition in patients with chronic kidney disease, Hence, the medical staff should take timely and effective nutrition intervention for the patients with malnutrition, delay the renal function damage of patients with CKD and improve the quality of life of patients. Inpatients with CKD, especially women, should increase their dietary intake, maintain normal weight and improve their nutritional status.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of empowerment education combined with mindfulness meditation training on negative emotions and quality of life in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).MethodsA total of 40 patients with IBD were selected and divided into experimental group and control group according to the random number table method, 20 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were treated with conventional nursing methods. The patients in the experimental group used empowerment education combined with mindfulness meditation training. Changes in mood and quality of life were compared between the two groups at admission and 3 months after discharge.ResultsThere was no significant difference in SAS score and quality of life score between the two groups. After authorization education combined with mindfulness meditation training, the SAS score of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P &lt; 0.01). The score of quality of life in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P &lt; 0.01).ConclusionEmpowerment education combined with mindfulness meditation can effectively improve the negative emotions and quality of life of patients with inflammatory bowel disease, and benefit the patients in many aspects.

To explore the clinical effects of continuous nursing on patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Methods: Patients with IBD in the digestive department of the hospital from January 2020 to August 2021 were selected as the research participants and divided into an observation and control group by the random number table method. The patients were treated with a routine nursing intervention (control group) or routine plus continuous nursing interventions (observation group). The disease uncertainty, coping strategies, sleep and quality of life before and after the interventions were compared between the two groups. Results: After 6 months of the intervention, the disease uncertainty score of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group (p < 0.05). Medical coping style score: There was no significant difference in the three dimensions of medical coping style between the two groups before the intervention (p > 0.05). After 6 months of the intervention, the facial score of the observation group was significantly higher, and the avoidance and yield scores were significantly lower compared with the control group (p < 0.05). Sleep quality and quality of life score: There was no significant difference in the sleep quality score between the two groups before the intervention (p > 0.05). After 6 months of the intervention, the observation group's sleep quality and quality of life scores were significantly higher compared with the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion:Compared with routine nursing, continuous nursing can reduce the disease uncertainty of patients with IBD, help them to adopt an active coping style, as well as improve their sleep quality and quality of life to relieve physical and mental pain and better restore health.

BackgroundTo summarizing the nursing experience of endoscopic submucosal dissection of bladder tumor (BT-ESD) for non-muscle invasive bladder tumor (NMIBC).MethodsThe clinic data of 32 cases of NMIBC patients which performed BT-ESD from 2015.3–2017.12 were collected and analyzed, including pre-operative nursing, operative cooperation, post-operative nursing, complications and follow-up etc.ResultsIn this study, 32 patients were immediately given bladder perfusion after operation, with a retention time of 0.5–1 h. The average postoperative hospital stay was 4.53 days, and the total average length of stay was 11 days. Thirty-four percent (11/32) of the patients had mild urine on the first day after operation. Three percent (1/32) patients had more severe hematuria on the third day after surgery, 3% (1/32) patients had more severe hematuria on the third day after surgery. Three percent (1/32) patients had obvious bladder irritation symptoms after intravesical chemotherapy. Urethral stricture occurred in 6% (2/32) patients during postoperative long term follow-up, and no patient developed bladder perforation. Six percent (2/32) of the patients were diagnosed with carcinoma of the margin of the bladder due to postoperative pathology, and two times of electrosurgical resection 1 month after the operation. Postoperative follow-up of 6% (2/32) patients relapsed after 6 months and 1 year respectively. Radical cystectomy and ileal neobladder were performed.ConclusionsBT-ESD is a safe and effective approach to treat NMIBC. Through careful clinical nursing and complete discharge follow-up, postoperative complications can be reduced, the recurrence rate of bladder tumor can be reduced, and patients’ satisfaction can be improved.
