Introduction: Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by excessive blood sugar caused by a defect in insulin secretion or function, there are two main types of diabetes: namely, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (Type I) known as childhood diabetes, The second type is non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, and usually affects adults after the age of forty. Hepcidin is the main organizer of the iron metabolism inHuman and in the rest of mammals. The aim of the study: Examine the relationship between the concentrations of each of the hepcidin, glycated hemoglobin HBA1C and ferritin and iron in patients with type II diabetes as well as healthy control. Examine the relationship between these virables with each other and with other virables. Materials and Methods: The concentration of hepcidin hormone and other biochemical variables was examined in (80) patients with diabetes type II, divided into two groups (39) males and (41) females. Age ranged between (34-75) years. Samples have been collected from patients who visited Balad General hospital laboratory and Dijla Private Laboratory in Balad District. At the same time , blood of (25) healthy volunteers was collected. Sample was divided into 2.5 ml in EDTA tube for hematological tests like complete blood count and HbA1C and 2.5 ml in heparin anticoagulated tube for chemical tests like blood sugar, Iron, Total iron binding capacity and Hepcidin. Results and Discussion: The results study showed a significant relationship (P<0.05) between the concentration of Hepcidinin patients with type 2 diabetes and healthy persons for both sexes . Also hepcidin concentration tend to increase in female patients as compared with male patients. It was also noted that there was a statistically significant relationship between hepcidin and ferritin concentration (p<0.05), as well as between iron and Hepcidin concentration (p < 0.05), with no statistical relationship between iron binding capacity (TIBC) and the concentration of hepcidin. The study showed a Positive correlation between the concentration of Hepcidinand count of red blood cells in people with type 2 diabetes when compared with healthy people. Conclusion: The average concentration of hepcidin was found to be higher among females than that among males. Also, there was an increase in the concentration of Hepcidin compared with healthy people.
The present study designed to demonstrate positive effect for honey bee on melatonin conc. and some immunological and biochemical parameters in women suffering Chronic kidney disease (CKD), the study include (55) blood samples get from women with CKD , (21) women from them volunteered to eat natural honey for thirty days, compared with (20) samples for normal women as control with age (20-49)year ,the samples were collected from Kirkuk hospital and clinicals from febreuary/2015 to june/2015. We reach to following conclusions: high significant increase in creatinin ,urea ,uric acid conc. And Melatonin ,MDA, Leptin ,IL-1α , IL-6 and TNF-α in women suffering from CKD compared with control group. whereas we found high significant decreasing in Albumin, GSH, Ceruloplasmin conc. In women with CKD compared with control . there were high significant decrease in biological ,immunological parameters with high significant increasing in Melatonin, Albumin, GSH, Ceruloplasmin in women with CKD and eat natural honey in compare with women with CKD without treatment with honey .
Introduction and Aim: Medicinal plants have shown to be effective in treatment of different stages of addiction with lower side effects, including reducing the severity of withdrawal symptoms that occur when an opioid-dependent patient stops using opioids. The current study aimed to evaluate the effective role of Mentha piperita oil on alleviating the symptoms of oxycodone withdrawal, and to elucidate the mechanisms by which it does so. Materials and Methods: Twenty-five healthy male rabbits divided into 5 groups (G1-G5) consisting of 5 rabbits each. The groups were divided as follows: G1-Control Group: G2-Oxycodone: G3-Oxycodone withdrawal: G4-Oxycodone withdrawal + M. piperita: G5-Oxycodone withdrawal +M. piperita. Blood was drawn from each animal and the serum obtained was analyzed for physiological (cortisol, serotonin, dopamine, CRP and T, LH levels), antioxidant parameters (LDH, SOD, GSH and MDA) and sperm activity. Results: This study found statistically significant changes in most variables. G2 rabbits had higher serotonin and dopamine levels, higher body weight, and lower cortisol and CRP levels than the healthy control group G1. Sperm activity, efficacy, testosterone, luteinizing hormone, superoxide dismutase, glutathione, and malondialdehyde did not alter across generations (G2 and G1). Group 3 showed that oxycodone withdrawal negatively affected dopamine, testosterone, LH, SOD, GSH, and sperm activity with weight, compared to Groups 1 and 2. Without therapy, rabbits in G3 with fast withdrawal had considerably higher cortisol, CRP, LDH, and MDA than G2 and G1. Serotonin level decreased in G3 compared with G1 and G2. An improvement in most of the studied variables, stress factors and antioxidants, as well as fertility indicators in the G4 and G5 improved gradually depending on period of treatment with M. piperita. Conclusion: M. piperita being rich in antioxidants can be adopted as one of the natural plant-based compound in patients undergoing oxycodone addiction withdrawal.
This research was designed for study the effect of rheumatoid arthritis diseases on Leptin hormone and some immunological parameters (Interleukins), This study involve 58 blood sample from 48 individual with rheumatoid arthritis compared with 10 healthy individual having no any health problems considered them as control group . The estimation of secretes cytokines by leukocytes The interleukins (IL-1 α and IL- 6 ) was done using Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA) and the result of this study showed significant increase at significancy level (P<o.o5 ) in concentration of Immunological Interleukins (IL-1 α and IL- 6) in rheumatoid arthritis patients group in comparism with control group . Also the results revealed significant increase significancy level (P<o.o5) of Leptin hormone concentration in rheumatoid arthritis patients group in comparism with control group .
The present research designed for evaluate the inhibitory activities of red bell pepper alone ,red bell pepper and virgin olive oil together on alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase activities of adult male rats (Rattus norvegicus) infected with experimental Diabetes induced by alloxan, in present study used (40) male rats weight (250-300) gram, their age (14-16) weeks the experimental animals had been bought from faculty of veterinary/ university of mousl and had been performed in the animal house at Dept. of Biology of science college at Tikrit Univ. from October to December, The present study intend to screen novel alpha amylase and alpha glucosidase inhibitors from natural sources to management of diabetes mellitus type 2. 1- The results had been shown significant decrease at the level of (p<0.01) in serum glucose concentration in diabetics rats given mixed of red bell pepper and virgin olive oil in dose –dependent manner compare with diabetic group alone. 2- high significant increase (P<0.01) in insulin concentration in diabetics male rats given mixed red bell pepper and olive oil compared with diabetic group alone . 3- The present result had been shown high inhibitory percentage of mixed extract of red bell pepper and virgin olive oil together against alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase in diabetic rats more than red bell pepper alone in dose-dependent manner (2 ml, 4 ml, 6 ml, 8 ml/ kg. of body weight). Conclusion: the mixture consist of red bell pepper extract and virgin olive oil show positive effect on inhibitory of amylase activity and alpha-glucosidase but effect on alpha- amylase more than on alpha glucosidase activity in male diabetic rats this may be considered this mixture as one of good management of hyperglycemia
