Abstract: Introduction: Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by excessive blood sugar caused by a defect in insulin secretion or function, there are two main types of diabetes: namely, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (Type I) known as childhood diabetes, The second type is non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, and usually affects adults after the age of forty. “…Body mass index (BMI) was considered and the patients with polycystic ovary syndrome were divided into three groups according to BMI G1 16-25 kg \ m2 (normal weight), G2 26-35 kg \ m2 (overweight) , G3 36-45 kg\m2 (obesity) these totals were compared to each other. The Table (3) showed increase in the first and second group and a decrease in the third groups .but iron showed increase in the third group and a decrease in the first and second groups .This finding suggested increased body iron stores in these women, raising the possibility that genes related to iron metabolism are altered in polycystic ovarian syndrome [22] . 5) shows an increase in the concentration of hepcidin in the second and third group and its decrease in the first group.…”

“…This hormone plays an important role in regulating the absorption of iron from the gut , as well as in the storage process of iron. [3] It is a peptide made in the liver and discovered in 2000 [4]. The hepcidin is an antimicrobial peptide.…”
