The Alere™ i Influenza A&B isothermal nucleic acid amplification test is an ideal point-of-care test for influenza detection in children and adults due to its high sensitivity and specificity and ability to generate results within 15 min from specimen receipt.

Data from this study can be utilized in educational programs and implementation of universal safety precautions for HCWs in Georgia to help achieve similar reductions in blood-borne infection transmission to those achieved in developed countries.

Interruptions occur commonly during all clinical activities in the ED, and are frequently generated by providers themselves. These have a negative impact on patient satisfaction. The direct impact on medical errors or on provider satisfaction has not been determined.
