Foliar fertilization with nickel and molybdenum in common bean cv. 'Ouro Vermelho'The objective of this work was to assess the effect of foliar application with nickel (Ni) and molybdenum (Mo) on components of yield, growth and mineral composition of common bean cv. 'Ouro Vermelho'. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with four replications in a 5 x 2factorial scheme consisted of rates of Ni (0, 15, 30, ), and Mo (0 and 80 g ha -1) applied in the leaves 25 days after seeding. The elements were applied in the form of Ni chloride hexahydrate and ammonium molybdate. The foliar application of Ni did not change the foliar contents of N, P, K, Fe, Mo and Ni, but increased the content of N, Ni and the crude protein in the seed. The application of Mo decreased the foliar contents of P, Fe and Ni, but increased the foliar content of Mo and the content of N, Mo and crude protein in the seed. It was found that the foliar application of Ni and Mo did not affect the seed weight, the number of beans per pod, the number of pod per plant and the dry weight of the root system. The application of Mo increased in 21.62% the number of nodules.

Application of soil and foliar potassium to green dwarfish coconut treeThe influence of doses of KCl applied via soil and via leaf axil on the leaf nutrient concentration in green dwarf coconut tree (Cocos nucifera L.) was evaluated. The experiment was conducted in a commercial orchard in Campos dos Goytacazes, Brazil, in a Typic Quartzipsamments, from May 31, 2007 to May 31, 2008, using a randomized complete block design with five treatments and sixteen replicates. Treatments consisted of two application modes (on soil and on the axil of the leaf number nine) and two levels of KCl (1666 and 3333 g of KCl per plant, per year) level 1 and 2 for soil and (833 and 1666 g per plant, per year) level 1 and 2 in for plant axil, with three month interval applications), besides a control, without KCl. Leaf samples were collected before the first fertilization and three months after each fertilization. Application of KCl increased leaf concentrations of K and Cl and reduced Mg concentration in plant tissue. Leaf concentrations of N; P; Ca; S; B; Cu; Fe; Mn and Zn were not influenced by the treatments. The application of foliar potassium allows greater absorption of this nutrient by plants. The foliar application minimizes losses and can reduce the quantity of potassium fertilizer applied.

RESUMO Níquel e molibdênio são micronutrientes essenciais que apresentam a capacidade de alterar o crescimento e o desenvolvimento do feijoeiro. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a produtividade, o crescimento e a composição mineral do feijão Ouro Vermelho em resposta às adubações com molibdênio (Mo) e níquel (Ni). O experimento foi conduzido a campo em Argissolo Acinzentado distrófico, no arranjo fatorial 5 x 2, referente a cinco doses de Ni (0; 15; 30; 45 e 60 g ha-1) e duas de Mo (0 e 80 g ha-1), no delineamento em blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. A aplicação foliar de Ni e Mo foi feita aos 25 dias após a semeadura, por meio de um pulverizador manual. As características avaliadas foram: estande final, altura, produtividade, número de vagens por planta, número de sementes por vagem, massa de 100 sementes e os teores de N, P, K, Fe, Mo, e Ni. Verificou-se que a adubação molíbdica aumentou o teor de N na folha, reduziu o teor de Fe na semente e, em doses elevadas de Ni, reduziu o teor de Ni nas sementes. As doses de Ni, sem aplicação de Mo, aumentaram o teor de N na folha e, na presença do Mo, aumentaram o teor de Fe na semente. Houve aumento do número de grãos por vagem, com a aplicação de Ni, e da massa seca da parte aérea, com a adubação molíbdica. As adubações com 80 g ha-1 de Mo e 60 g ha-1 de Ni aumentaram em 12,71 e 27,5%, respectivamente, a produtividade do feijoeiro.

This study described the main characteristics of the maize cultivars UENF MSV2210 and UENF MS2208. Adapted to the North and Northwestern regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro, they have a high agronomic performance and were developed for both silage and green maize production.

It was evaluated the effect of glyphosate reduced rates on growth and phosphorus (P) uptake of 'Xodó' common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotype. The experiment was conducted in factorial scheme 4 x 2, in randomized blocks design with four replications, with the first factor constituted by reduced doses of 0, 4.32, 8.64 and 12.96 g ha-1 equivalent acid (e.a.) of glyphosate and the second factor consisted of soil P rates (50 and 250 mg dm-3). Evaluations were conducted 30 days after glyphosate application (DAA). The reduced dose of 12.96 g ha-1 stimulated common bean cv. Xodó growth as well as increased P concentration in stem and P content in shoot dry mass plants.

O glyphosate é o principal herbicida em utilização no mundo, sendo recomendado para o controle de plantas daninhas em diversas culturas. Em pulverizações com ventos de 2 m s-1, a deriva de glyphosate pode atingir até 160 m além do local considerado alvo colocando em risco as culturas vizinhas. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a matéria seca e os teores de nutrientes do feijoeiro comum (Phaseolus vulgarisL.) cv. Pérola submetido à deriva de glyphosate. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação na Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro - UENF, Campos dos Goytacazes - RJ, utilizando o feijoeiro comum. Utilizou-se o delineamento em blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial 4 x 2 com quatro repetições, sendo o primeiro fator constituído pelas subdoses de 0; 14,4; 43,2 e 86,4g ha-1 de equivalente ácido (e.a.) de glyphosate na forma de sal de amônio aplicado aos 25 dias após a semeadura (estádio V4) e o segundo fator constituído por dois tipos de solos: Neossolo Quartzarênico Órtico típico e Argissolo Vermelho Amarelo distrófico Tb. A deriva de glyphosate reduziu a massa seca de ramos e da parte aérea aos 20 dias após a aplicação (DAA), os teores de nitrogênio (N), fósforo (P), potássio (K), magnésio (Mg) e enxofre (S) aos 10 DAA e de N, P, Ca e Mg aos 20 DAA do feijoeiro cv. Pérola.
