Este estudo tem como objetivo geral caracterizar e identificar o grau de maturidade em uso de Inteligência Competitiva (IC) de uma instituição financeira em um país emergente, segundo modelo de maturidade consagrado na literatura. Para realização deste trabalho, o método escolhido foi o estudo de caso único. Foram realizadas quatro coletas de dados em áreas distintas da organização estudada: Marketing, Segurança Física, Relações Internacionais e Gestão de Riscos de Ativos. Os principais resultados indicam que duas áreas apresentam maturidade em Nível 1-Informal, e outras duas áreas apresentam maturidade em Nível 2-Formal. As principais conclusões apontam para a coerência dos critérios e elementos que sustentam a lógica do modelo de maturidade testado. Demonstram ainda que na organização estudada a IC é descentralizada e que o modus operandi da IC nessa organização é intuitivo e avançado para seu nível de maturidade.
RESUMOEste estudo analisa o sistema de IC da Frimesa, uma das cinco maiores empresas da área de alimentos no Brasil, que negocia seus produtos somente com pequenos lojistas. A abordagem metodológica envolve a pesquisa qualitativa, por meio de um estudo de caso, exploratório e descritivo. Os dados foram coletados por entrevista pessoal com três diretores, por observação dos processos transacionais da empresa e por uso de documentos formais da empresa, permitindo a triangulação dos dados. Os dados das entrevistas foram gravados e processados utilizando-se análise de conteúdo. Os principais resultados indicam que a Frimesa desenvolveu seu modelo de negócio em torno de pequenos lojistas com abrangência local. Esses lojistas tornaram-se bases cognitivas do comportamento dos consumidores nas comunidades cobertas pelos lojistas, cujas informações permitem à Frimesa orientar seus processos. Informações de consumo permitiram à empresa desenvolver e aplicar políticas de preços compatíveis com o perfil do poder aquisitivo das comunidades de seus lojistas, uma eficiente estratégia de distribuição de seus produtos e determinar a forma otimizada de produção. Os pequenos lojistas funcionam como intermediários de inovações propostas pelos usuários, colocando a Frimesa em posição vantajosa para competir com os grandes produtores de alimentos. As principais conclusões indicam que o sistema de inteligência competitiva estruturado pela Frimesa, não apenas é o determinante do perfil de seu modelo de negócio, mas também sustenta o processo de inovação incremental e contínua, desejado em seu modelo de negócio, para manter a empresa em seu posicionamento projetado.Palavras-chave: Inteligência Competitiva; Inovação; Modelo de Negócio.
