This study aims to examine how different genders are represented in Indonesia's grade eight English textbooks. The primary goal of this research is to ascertain the various gender representations and how language and images are used in the English textbook "Think Globally Act Locally." The study employs Fairclough's (1989) Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) frameworks, specifically the description, interpretation, and explanation. Analyses are divided into five categories: Authors' genders, character genders, issues centered on men or women pictures and visibility, and linguistic traits. Additionally, the images have been subjected to a critical image analysis using the Critical Image Analysis program. The investigation's findings reveal that gender prejudice or stereotypes persist in the English textbooks used in Indonesian schools, despite the government's efforts to promote equality and fairness in education through the country's educational policy. Lastly, the study offers some pedagogical implications and recommendations for resolving gender inequality in the educational materials used in English classrooms.
This study aims to describe undergraduate students' perspectives on the implementation of self-directed learning in improving speaking skills. The participants of this research are 8th semester students at Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang with the amount of 30 students. This study employed descriptive method, where the data gained through semi-structured interview and questionnaires. The findings indicated that all participants agreed that self-directed learning is an effective method that is used outside the classroom. They also agreed that self-directed learning can help them achieve their learning goals and get used to being more active and responsible in their learning process. In addition, in carrying out self-directed learning activities, most of the participants prefer to use audio-visual media. Furthermore, this study suggests teachers to provide a foothold to students about the importance of self-management in the learning process towards self-directed learning so that students are more independent and can achieve the learning objectives.
Masalah korupsi adalah masalah warga negara yang harus dicegah dan ditanggulangi mulai dari hal-hal terkecil dalam keseharian kita, penanggulangan dan pencegahan perilaku korupsi bukan hanya tugas KPK, atau pemerintah tapi merupakan masalah bersama. Salah satunya dengan menerapkan sebuah model pembelajaran di persekolahan yang diharapkan mampu membantu masyarakat khususnya siswa dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai antikorupsi. Model pembelajaran tersebut berupa teori film documenter. Dalam model ini diharapkan siswa dapat lebih empiris mengenal, memaknai, dan menerapkan jiwa antikorupsi dalam kehhidupan sehari-hari mulai dari dini. Siswa-siswa SMP N 2 Rawamerta secara umum masih menganggap bahwa korupsi adalah perilaku pejabat publik yang merugikan keuangan negara dan melawan hukum, sedangkan perilaku koruptif seringkali mereka temui bahkan dilakukan dalam kehidupan mereka sehari-hari, mata pelajaran PKn dan PAI saja tidaklah cukup untuk memberikan pemahaman perilaku koruptif tersebut. Diperlukan pelatihan dan pembimbingan berkesinambungan dalam rangka menyiapkan generasi antikorupsi. Eksistensi mitra terhadap lingkungan memiliki makna yang sangat sentral dan strategis. Mereka mempunyai peran yang sangat penting dan dapat menjadi ujung tombak pendidikan antikorupsi, karena mereka adalah generasi yang masih rawan, maka perlu diberikan pemahaman tentang korupsi. Kegiatan ini diharapkan memberikan bekal keterampilan kepada mitra yang merupakan siswa SMP N 2 Rawamerta dalam hal mensosialisasikan dampak korupsi bagi kehidupan bangsa dan negara.
The problem that is happening in the field in the form of agricultural products is information that is often found today. So the purpose of this service designs applications that are the needs of farmers, so that vegetables can be directly to consumers. Sis-Log in Apps (Agricultural Logistics System Application) is an application designed by researchers and can be used for the needs of farmers and consumers. The method used in this service is a field method. The results in this service are in the form of sis-log design in apps. Applications are useful to facilitate the process of buying and selling directly between farmers and consumers. Without going through other intermediaries that make the shipping network long. Then the quality of the freshness of vegetables is maintained and directly to the hands of consumers. In addition, this application uses technology that is looking for the closest distance between farmers and consumers. So this makes the effectiveness and efficiency of vegetable delivery.
