MOLDENHAUERDer relativ hohe Gehalt des Tabaks an Pektinen ist schon seit langem AnlaD zu Forschungen gewesen, vor allem iiber ihren EinfluB auf die Qualitat.Wir haben es uns zunachst zur Aufgabe gestellt, anhand von 3 vollkommen verschiedenen Tabaksorten, die bei uns angebaut wurden und zwar ,,Ergo", ,,Havana IIc" (HIIc) und ,,Virgin 232'' (V232), die Frage des Verhaltens der Pektine in der wachsenden Tabakpflanze zu untersuchen. Die jeweils in 3 Erntestufen gebrochenen Bliitter wurden entsprechend ihrem biologischen Zustand unter Beriicksichtigung der Sorte als ,,uberreife", , ,reife" und ,,unreife" Blatter sortiert und, ebenso wie die Setzlingspflanzen, getrennt untersucht.Weiterhin ist an der 2 . Erntestufe der Sorten ,,Ergo" und ,,Havana IIc" die qualitative und quantitative VeIidndemng der Pektine im Tabak w&hrend der Trocknung und Fermentation verfolgt worden.Den heithftgetrockneten (HL) ,,Ergo" fermentierten wir nach vorheriger Redrying-Behandlung im Warmraum (R, W) und den hanggetrockneten (HG) einmal ebenfalls wie bereits erwahnt, zum anderen unmittelbar nach der Trocknung in der Kammer (K). Fur Havana IIc, hanggetrocknet, wurde die Stapelfermentation (St) angewendet.SchlieDlich priiften wir den EinfluD der Pektine auf die Qualitat an einer Anzahl von handelsqualifizierten Orient-und China-Virgin-Sorten sowie an 'Cjbersee-Zigarrentabaken.Die Untersuchungen wurden sowohl am Tabak wie auch an den hieraus isolierten Pektinen vorgenommen.Die Einzelheiten der verschiedenen Behandlungsarten iibergehen wir hier ebenso wie eine schilderung der Untersuchungsmethodik; beides ist an anderer Stelle erlautert [ I , 21.
