The application of HPLC for the purpose of separation of some amino acid racemates with aromatic substituents is described.Using simple untreated cellulose with an average particlesizeof 7 pm as stationary phase, complete resolution of D,L-tryptophane and D,L-5-hydroxytryptophane can be obtained. D,L-3,4dihydroxyphenylalanine is resolved partially. The a-value and resolution for D,L-tryptophane was found to be 1.5.
