Ključne riječi: rekreacija, rekreacijska zona, prirodna baština, zaštićeno područje, park prirode, Medvednica Protected Areas as Recreational Zones of the City -Case Study of Medvednica Nature ParkDue to the increasingly stressful daily working environment, the need for outdoor recreation is more evident, especially for the urban population. The importance of protected areas is constantly growing, particularly because of an increasing interest in recreational zones inside the cities as well as on their outskirts. These areas can be observed from two points of view, as a part of natural heritage and as popular recreational zones. In order to preserve them for future generations, it is necessary to implement a concept of sustainable development in their management. The purpose of this research is to give scientific contribution to the recreational use of protected areas in the city surroundings. Medvednica Nature Park has been selected as a case study considering it represents a popular recreational area of the Zagreb urban agglomeration. The following research objectives have been singled out: identification of the recreational offer, recreational offer attendance assessment, analysis of recreational mobility features, analysis of visitors' attitudes regarding the recreational offer, defining attitudes of relevant institutional representatives regarding the recreational offer and suggesting guidelines for the future development of the recreation.
The study analyses the characteristics of developmental dynamics and spatial distribution of the second home phenomenon in the Croatian littoral, the leading receiving second home area in the country, after the Second World War, with particular emphasis on the recent period (after the Homeland War and Croatian liberation). The period of the conversion and adaptation of the existing and abandoned housing stock into recreational second homes (mostly in 1960s and 1970s) and the period of the construction of the purpose-built dwellings for vacation and recreation, i.e. family weekend-houses (in 1970s and 1980s), was followed by the period of a more intensive construction of multi-apartment recreational buildings (from mid 1990s until the present time). The second home phenomenon fi rst spread in the area of the Northern Croatian Littoral. Then, between 1980 and 1990, it made signifi cant inroads also into Dalmatia. After the Homeland War and in the last ten years, it again became more prominent in the Kvarner and Istria. The geographical distribution of dwellings for vacation and recreation in 2001, covering the period between the two censuses of 1991 and 2001, reveals the persistence of earlier trends towards greater concentration of second homes in the leading tourist regions along the Croatian littoral, but also the increased dispersion into the regions which do not have as high value for tourism but are suitable for accommodating second home dwellings.Key words: second home phenomenon, second home, receiving second home area, Croatian littoral Suvremena obilježja vikendaštva u hrvatskom priobalju U radu su analizirana obilježja razvojne dinamike i prostornog rasporeda vikendaštva nakon Drugoga svjetskog rata u priobalnom dijelu Hrvatske, vodećem receptivnom vikendaškom području u državi, s posebnim naglaskom na suvremeno razdoblje (nakon Domovinskog rata i hrvatskog osamostaljenja).
The aim of this research is an analysis of the tourism development of the smallest administrative units (towns and municipalities) as well as their typology within the Croatian tourism regions. The methodological approach is based on GIS analysis of seven relevant indicators of tourism development; this is a tool for defining typology. Such an approach helps in determining the conclusion concerning the role that tourism plays in each administrative unit inside the respective five Croatian tourism regions. Research shows pronounced differences in terms of the level of tourism development between the littoral tourism regions in comparison to the three continental regions. The differences are also visible when analyzing the level of tourism development of towns and municipalities inside the regions. Such a situation is a consequence of the concentration of tourism development at both the national and regional levels, which is more exaggerated in the continental parts of the country. Key words: regional development, GIS analysis, tourism, Croatia Suvremeni problemi regionalnog razvoja turizma u HrvatskojCilj je ovog istraživanja analiza turističkog razvoja najmanjih administrativnih jedinica (općina i gradova) te njihova tipologija unutar hrvatskih turističkih regija.
In the nowadays demanding tourism market Croatia wants to present itself not just as a country of classical "3S (sea, sun and sand)" tourism offer but also as a destination with great potential for the development of a more complex tourism product that would carry a development of high-quality sustainable tourism intended for an individual, more demanding, more educated, well-off and ecologically conscious tourist. "Robinson tourism", in which tourists search isolation and peace in an intact environment, is becoming a very popular type of tourism in the world. Considering stressful living conditions in ecologically more polluted cities with a low life quality, the above mentioned is not a surprise. In order to enrich island and coastal tourism offers in the early 2000s a process of tourism valorisation of lighthouses began mostly on secluded locations of Croatian islands and along the coast. Due to the automation of light-mechanisms on numerous Croatian lighthouses there are less and less lighthouse keepers which opened the possibility to renovate apartments for tourists where once a lighthouse keeper and his family lived. For lighthouse maintenance and its tourism conversion Plovput Ltd. from Split is in charge. The company started this rent a lighthouse project that not only just brings profit but it also provides funds for reconstruction of these cultural heritage monuments built in the 19 th century and the first part of the 20 th century. Today, due to this project 14 lighthouses have been integrated into this tourism offer. The main aim of this research is to define the characteristics of a Croatian lighthouse accommodation offer as well as the main features of the structure and volume of a tourism flow in 2008.
Ključne riječi: vodni resursi, vodoopskrba, održivi razvoj, turizam, otok Krk Water Supply as a Factor of Sustainable Tourism Development on the Island of KrkThis article deals with the characteristics of water supply as one of the elements of sustainable tourism development on the Island of Krk. The Island of Krk, being an important tourist and second home area, as well as Croatia's most populated island, shows significant needs for water resources. During the summer, there is huge pressure on the water supply system and the environment in general. Does the island have enough water resources to meet such a demand? Owing to the abundant island wells and thanks to the connection of the northern part of the island to mainland Rijeka's water supply system in mid-2008, current water demands are being satisfied. Therefore, we can say that, although the drainage problem still has not been solved, sustainable tourism development of the island is not being impeded for the time being by the lack of water resources. However, water supply is not the only parameter of sustainable tourism development in a particular area. It is necessary also to take into account other indicators that influence the quality of life of the local population, as well as those of periodical space consumers.
