A comparative study of different configurations of an axial-flux, 9-phase, concentrated winding, PM synchronous generator for direct-drive wind turbine is presented. 2D finite element analyses are used to find the best configurations. An analytical sizing model is built and validated with measurements on a small scale prototype. An optimization process is used to minimize the total active mass and to maximize the power factor. Pareto fronts highlight the best configuration and design parameter values.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
