Introdução: As doenças pulmonares restritivas acometem cerca de 12% da população geral e provocam redução da expansão pulmonar. São caracterizadas por diminuição da capacidade vital e dos volumes pulmonares. O EzPAP® é um dispositivo de fisioterapia respiratória não invasiva, indicada para expansão pulmonar. Objetivo: Detalhar os efeitos agudos do EzPAP®, suas vantagens e desvantagens para expansão pulmonar. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de caráter clínico. Foi realizada uma busca nas bases de dados MedLine, LILACS, Pedro Scientific Eletronic Library online (Scielo), United States National Library of Medicine (PubMed) e Cochrane Controlled. O período de busca foi de março a outubro de 2020. Foram incluídos artigos publicados nos últimos 10 anos, sem restrição de idiomas. Excluídos artigos repetidos e publicações que não estavam alocadas em bases de dados. Para a seleção dos artigos seguiu-se a metodologia estruturada em cinco fases: (1) Identificação do tema, (2) Busca do assunto nas bases de dados, (3) Categorização dos estudos, (4) Avaliação e (5) Interpretação dos resultados. Três revisores independentes participaram da investigação. Desentendimentos sobre a inclusão foram resolvidos por meio de uma segunda análise e consenso do estudo pré-selecionado. Resultados: Foram encontrados 22 estudos, dos quais 16 foram excluídos, por não descreverem delineamento metodológico e por incluir outras condições clínicas que não fossem insuficiência respiratória aguda em adultos. Assim, foram incluídos 6 estudos que contemplaram os critérios estabelecidos para o desfecho primário. Considerações Finais: Os efeitos agudos mais frequentes foram o menor tempo de internação, prevenção e tratamento de atelectasia pulmonar, redução da dispneia, hipoxemia e hipercapnia. Poucos estudos exploram e evidenciam as desvantagens do EzPAP®, e alguns apresentaram limitações importantes, não apresentando dados sobre a quantidade percentual e relativa de melhoria ou piora do estado de saúde dos participantes.
