A transfusão sanguínea auxilia pacientes em situações de urgência médica ou doenças crônicas. Para garantir sua segurança, realiza-se análise sorológica em todos os doadores. Nesse contexto, este estudo teve por objetivo analisar as principais inaptidões sorológicas detectadas nos doadores de sangue no Hemocentro Regional de Cascavel/Paraná – Hemepar. Observou-se o perfil dos doadores inaptos e a natureza de suas inaptidões por meio da análise de dados informatizados do sistema de banco de sangue do Hemocentro, referentes ao período de janeiro a junho de 2019. O estudo ocorreu sob o parecer n. 3.783.333 do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa e Certificado de Apresentação de Apreciação Ética: 25582919.9.0000.5219. Dentre os 8497 candidatos, 6841 doaram sangue e 249 foram inaptos. Assim, a análise demonstrou que, naquele período, 3,6% das sorologias em doadores do Hemocentro foram reagentes, o que representa uma fração importante de sangue doado desperdiçado. Testes para Hepatite B foram os mais prevalentes, com 164 reações positivas. Sífilis aparece na sequência, com 73 amostras. A quantidade de homens e mulheres inaptos foi semelhante (52,2% e 47,8%, respectivamente). Em termos de idade, o subgrupo acima de 29 anos foi o mais prevalente (188, ou 75,5%). Notavelmente, abaixo dos 18 anos não houve candidatos inaptos.
