Diante da pandemia de Covid-19, o uso ativo de política fiscal tem se mostrado essencial para mitigar os efeitos sanitários e socioeconômicos. Este artigo procura analisar e comparar as medidas fiscais e parafiscais adotadas ao longo de 2020 por cinco países: China, Estados Unidos, Alemanha, Reino Unido e Brasil. Em alguns casos, o volume de recursos mobilizados superou 20% do produto interno bruto (PIB), denotando a centralidade assumida por tais medidas. À luz das experiências selecionadas, ressalta-se a complementaridade entre as ações nos âmbitos sanitário e econômico, o que reforça a necessidade de coordenação entre ambas para o efetivo enfrentamento dos efeitos advindos da pandemia. Entre os países analisados, os esforços tanto de políticas sanitárias como de destinação dos recursos fiscais e parafiscais foram bastante diversos, afetando diretamente suas respectivas conjunturas sanitárias e socioeconômicas.
