Par l'analyse « en temps réel » de deux entretiens, cet article présente une nouvelle technique d'entretien : la mise au carré. L'intention principale de cette technique est de faciliter la récolte de données implicites tout en limitant les risques de surinterprétation. Le chercheur et la personne interrogée prennent alors ensemble le chemin de la nuance, de la contextualisation et de l'articulation dynamique des idées évoquées ou invoquées. Les non-dits et les dits se répondent dans une démarche méthodologique structurée. Cet article propose donc, après un cadrage théorique de la mise au carré, deux applications concrètes de celle-ci, l'une linéaire destinée principalement aux chercheurs qui débutent et l'autre sémantique s'adressant davantage aux chercheurs voulant explorer d'autres possibilités offertes par la technique.
