Resumo Este trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar o ciclo de vida de telhas de fibrocimento fabricadas com fibras de amianto ou com fibras de polipropileno. Foram utilizadas as técnicas de Avaliação do Ciclo de Vida (ACV) e de Levantamento de Aspectos e Impactos Ambientais (Laia) para analisar comparativamente os impactos ambientais causados. Na ACV determinaram-se, para todas as etapas, as emissões atmosféricas causadoras do efeito estufa, da chuva ácida e as que possuem toxicidade humana, além do consumo de insumos (água e energia). No Laia agregaram-se à ACV os impactos de utilização de recursos naturais e os riscos à saúde devido aos fatores prejudiciais dos materiais constituintes das telhas. Foram avaliados dois cenários, onde se fixaram os locais de extração de matéria-prima, o local da obra e o aterro industrial para o qual seriam levados os resíduos das telhas após a vida útil deles, variando-se apenas os locais de fabricação das telhas. O cenário que empregou fibras de polipropileno foi mais vantajoso ambientalmente em quatro categorias entre as sete avaliadas, confirmando assim, com essa avaliação, que o uso de amianto é mais desfavorável que o uso de polipropileno sob o foco ambiental.
A gestão de RSU inclui a disposição final dos rejeitos e, quanto menor esta parcela disposta em aterros, maiores serão os ganhos ambientais e, consequentemente, a redução de impactos. Processos como reciclagem e compostagem contribuem para a minimização dos impactos causados por aterros, devido a redução da quantidade de rejeitos destinada a este fim. Deste modo, este trabalho analisou a aplicação da ferramenta de ACV como técnica para a gestão de RSU em aterros. Foi avaliado teoricamente um estudo de caso realizado através de softwares de avaliação de ciclo de vida, que mostrou as vantagens e desvantagens de quatro cenários, sendo um deles real. O estudo mostrou melhorias significativas dos indicadores de impacto ambiental, quando incluídos os processos de triagem, reciclagem e compostagem de materiais precedendo ao processo de aterramento de resíduos, corroborando para o aumento de vida útil da área do aterro e redução de emissões.
Objetivou-se neste trabalho analisar os parâmetros fitossociológicos e a dinâmica da distribuição espacial dos jovens regenerantes de Jatropha mollissima (Pohl) Baill. em área de caatinga no semiárido paraibano. Assim, o trabalho de campo realizou-se no Espaço Experimental Reservado para Estudos de Ecologia e Dinâmica da Caatinga – Área I do Laboratório de Ecologia e Botânica – LAEB/CDSA/UFCG (7°39’38.8’’ S e 36°53’42.4’’ W; 538 m de altitude) localizado no município de Sumé. O ecossistema selecionado para o estudo apresenta-se com uma extensão de 1,05 ha, sendo dispostas nessa área 96 parcelas de 10 X 10 m para análise dos jovens regenerantes de J. mollissima. O levantamento dos jovens regenerantes ocorreu nos meses de novembro e dezembro de 2021. Foram calculados os parâmetros absolutos de densidade (DA) e frequência (FA) e elaboradas as classes de regeneração. Relacionado ao levantamento de jovens regenerantes foram identificados 1965 indivíduos. Assim, a densidade absoluta na área amostrada ficou representada por 2047 indivíduos.ha-1. Particularmente em relação à frequência absoluta e considerando-se as 96 parcelas amostradas, os indivíduos jovens de J. mollissima foram registrados em todas as parcelas, representando 100% do total amostrado. Assim, avaliando o número de indivíduos distribuídos por parcela, a que apresentou maior abundância de indivíduos jovens regenerantes foi a 37 (68 indivíduos). A altura média registrada foi de 0,10 m, sendo que a parcela que apresentou a maior altura média foi a parcela 44 (0,144 m) e o menor valor para as parcelas 33 e 40 com (0,082 m). O diâmetro médio foi 0,59 cm, sendo que a parcela 95 ficou com o maior valor (0,947 cm) e a parcela 18 com o menor valor calculado para o diâmetro médio (0,389 m). Considerando os parâmetros fitossociológicos de densidade absoluta e frequência absoluta por classes de tamanho da regeneração natural, os maiores valores foram encontrados na Classe 1 (0,04 - 0,10 m) com 1439 ind./ha e 98 % respectivamente. Portanto, os dados gerados neste trabalho com jovens regenerantes de J. mollissima em área de caatinga ofertam importantes subsídios para a definição de ações estratégicas voltadas para a biologia da conservação e restauração de ecossistemas degradados no contexto do Semiárido brasileiro.
