A adoção das normas internacionais de contabilidade no Brasil ocasionou mudanças na forma de reconhecimento, mensuração e evidenciação dos fatos econômicos das empresas. Com o intuito de harmonizar às normas contábeis com as internacionais, os órgãos normatizadores brasileiros aprovaram o Pronunciamento Técnico CPC 29, que estabelece o tratamento contábil e a evidenciação dos ativos biológicos e dos produtos agrícolas. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar nas empresas brasileiras que possuem ativos biológicos o nível de conformidade com o CPC 29 e sua associação com características empresariais. O estudo adotou a abordagem descritiva e analisou as Demonstrações Contábeis consolidadas referentes ao ano de 2013 de empresas brasileiras de capital aberto. No total foram analisadas 19 empresas que evidenciaram ativos biológicos no ano de 2013. Os resultados da pesquisa mostram que a média de conformidade das empresas com o CPC 29 é de 74,68%. Com relação à análise estatística, observou-se que o nível de conformidade das empresas tem associações com características empresariais, tais como, setor, governança, tamanho, rentabilidade e representatividade do ativo, sendo que o tamanho da empresa tem interação significativa com o nível de conformidade. Em comparação com estudos anteriores verificou-se que houve um aumento significativo no nível de conformidade das empresas com o pronunciamento técnico CPC 29 ao longo do tempo.
