In this article, I compare cartographic methods that can be used for analyzing tourist attractive regions and explore the possibilities of using GIS technologies for such analysis. I provide a specific methodology of searching for the most attractive tourist regions using Voronoi diagrams and heatmaps. I demonstrate the methodology by applying it to certain types of tourist resources in Chernihiv region of Ukraine.
This article examines the use of information and communication technologies in teaching and learning geography. The realities of modern educational process in Ukraine, in particular distance learning and military events, force Ukrainian teachers to look for opportunities for remote interaction between teachers and students. Taking into account that teachers are increasingly turning to the electronic form of providing educational material to students, an example of the application of an innovative approach to the study of geography, namely the use of WEB-mapping capabilities, is given. Attention is focused on the use of a new type of a learning tool to help all participants of the educational process − an online platform for studying geography and history. In order to provide students with high-quality electronic content in a cartographic form, it is proposed to create a so-called “Teacher’s Electronic Cartographic Online Platform”. The staff of the State Research and Production Enterprise “Cartography”, on the resources of which the “Teacher’s Electronic Cartographic Online Platform” functions, managed to initiate the process of its creation and lay the foundations for the functioning of these types of electronic educational resources. The teacher’s cartographic online platform is presented as a set of modern electronic educational cartographic guides, posters and interactive maps. The presented online platform was approved, tested and received numerous subscribers in the time of the global pandemic and war. The purpose of this publication is a detailed analysis of the content and description of the principles of functioning of the teacher’s electronic cartographic online platform, a study of its advantages over traditional manuals in organizing and conducting geography education. Pedagogical possibilities and methods of studying geography based on the presented online platform are revealed. The general features of the design of electronic materials in such platform are described. This publication also visualizes the interface of the online platform being created and gives an example of designing interactive maps in it. Prospects for the development of the teacher's electronic cartographic online platform and filling it with new content are given.
The creation of modern tourist products contributes to the attractiveness of our country in the market of tourist services. Transport accessibility is an important aspect for creating tourism products. This study considers the algorithm for determining transport accessibility for the projection of tourist travel routes, based on the use of geographic information technologies. Transport accessibility is determined by collecting and filtering data and subsequent creation of isochron maps, which show the time distance when moving a particular mode of transport along the lines of the road network from points of interest. Attractions of Ternopil region were chosen as such points of interest for tourists. The paper uses open OSM data on tourist facilities and the road network. Data preparation was performed using PostgreSQL software. When performing the study, the QGIS program was used, in which data processing was performed. Spatial analysis is performed in the spatial information processing environment GRASS GIS; data processing modules or GRASS GIS plug-ins are used. The proposed algorithm allows forming a database of tourist facilities, transport routes, to define more accurately existing tourist routes, to create new ones. As a test in the course of the study, the route of the tour of Ternopil was designed, in the construction of which an isochron map was used. Spatial analysis helps to better determine the path of the tourist tour and its duration.
Gastronomic tourism as a rapidly developing type of tourism, and being a complex system, requires quality management. The use of geoinformation systems and technologies can contribute to the formation of management decisions regarding the effective development of this type of tourism. The article examines the essence of gastronomic tourism and the use of GIS technologies to form a geospatial database. The cartographic method of researching the presented phenomenon is applied and the possible cartometric operations in the work of the tourist GIS of the gastronomic direction are described. In this study we have developed a technological scheme for creating gastronomic tourism routes using GIS technologies. We present the conceptual and structural-logical model of the geospatial database of gastronomic tourism developed by us. A geospatial data base of gastronomic tourism for Odesa region, which is distinguished by its gastronomic colour and is in great demand among travelers, has been created and visualized. Local specialized objects of gastronomic tourism of this region were found and the database tables were filled with reliable attributive data. The locations of the concentration of gastronomic objects in Odesa are visualized with the help of a heatmap, and typical requests of users regarding the identification of objects of interest when designing gastronomic routes are given. The city of Odessa was identified as the most attractive place for gastronomic tourism in Odesa region, as it is the one around which the vast majority of various objects of gastronomic tourism is concentrated. Various gastronomic routes through Odesa region and Odesa with buffer zones along them have been designed, which can be of interest to both tourists and tour operators when creating gastro tours. The proposed methodology can be used for a similar analysis of other regions and, in our opinion, will contribute to increasing the number of tourist trips to the region and the development of gastronomic tourism in Ukraine as a whole.
