INTRODUCCIÓN. El presente artículo analiza los vínculos de apego inseguro con los padres y/o cuidadores primarios y las experiencias de trauma infantil, como factores que incrementan el riesgo de conducta suicida en adolescentes. OBJETIVO. El objetivo fue explorar la relación de las experiencias tempranas de apego inseguro y de trauma infantil, con el comportamiento de riesgo suicida en un grupo de 10 adolescentes de 13 a 18 años, pacientes del Hospital General Enrique Garcés de Quito, Ecuador. MÉTODO. Se utilizó una metodología mixta que incluía una entrevista semiestructurada a los adolescentes participantes sobre sus intentos de suicidio, así como dos instrumentos de medición: el Cuestionario ACE (Experiencias Infantiles Adversas) y el ASA (Attachment Script Assessment). RESULTADOS. Respecto de las experiencias de trauma infantil en la población estudiada, se encontró que los factores de riesgo más significativos son el maltrato físico y psicológico así como la negligencia por parte de los padres y/o cuidadores. Además, se halló que el apego inseguro está relacionado con los intentos suicidas de los participantes. DISCUSIÓN Y CONCLUSIONES. Se concluye que los vínculos de apego inseguro y las experiencias de trauma infantil aumentan la probabilidad de suicidio en los adolescentes estudiados. Estos hallazgos son discutidos en función de la literatura sobre el tema.
