O modelo de equivalência de estímulos tem sido aplicado em situações de ensino de leitura, comumente utilizando-se a palavra como unidade de ensino. O presente trabalho teve por objetivos elaborar, aplicar e avaliar um procedimento de leitura utilizando a frase como unidade de ensino, para dois alunos encaminhados para atividades de recuperação. A proposta de ensino foi aplicada individualmente com uso do software educativo Mestre. Antes do ensino, os participantes não liam frases. Após o procedimento implementado, ambos apresentaram emergência de leitura das frases de ensino; no entanto, na leitura generalizada de frases, os níveis de desempenho foram diferenciados. Verificou-se ainda que houve manutenção dos de-sempenhos apresentados após um intervalo de 28 dias. Os dados obtidos evidenciam que, após a proposta, ambos os participantes ampliaram seu repertório de leitura, atingindo níveis de desempenho superiores aos apresentados anteriormente.
Com as necessidades contemporâneas na Educação Especial, em que os sujeitos com deficiência intelectual não são favorecidos pelo Currículo formal, se realizam ponderações epistemológicas acerca do Currículo Funcional. Deste modo, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar e refletir sobre o Currículo Funcional na Educação Especial a partir de uma ótica inclusiva. Abordam-se as principais indagações sobre a aplicabilidade, o significado e a funcionalidade do currículo na educação especial para o sujeito com deficiência intelectual, fundamentadas nas pesquisas de diversos autores como: Rita Figueiredo, Maryse Suplino e Lev Vygotsky. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de cunho bibliográfico e de caráter qualitativo pela importância como passo inicial na construção de um processo de investigação. Apresenta-se um panorama da Educação Especial em um contexto geral e são abordados alguns aspectos da realidade brasileira, fundamentados em conceitos teóricos de autores renomados da área. Portanto, a efetivação do Currículo Funcional para o sujeito com deficiência intelectual (SDI) com o propósito de desenvolver as habilidades e as competências para uma vida autônoma e prática na sociedade.
