Objective: to identify evidences from the literature on the application of nursing process in care developed by the nurse in mental health. Method: integrative literature review between 1990 and 2013, in the PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL and LILCACS bases. Descriptors: nursing processes, mental health, nursing care. Results: 19 papers were identifi ed. Limited and partial usage of the nursing process in care established by a therapeutic relationship that respects the patient's individuality. We observe care proposals systematized for patients that present pathological aspects in the limits between the physical and psychical, which might be a response to the infl uence of the practice based on evidences. Conclusion: it was found an antagonistic movement between care based on the relationship and located in the standardization of diagnoses that respond to physical malaise. A lack of evidence was verifi ed for the usage of the nursing process in mental health, and we point at the necessity for the creation of new possibilities for dialogue between relational and biological perspectives. ABSTRACT:The objective of this study was to identify the acknowledgement of welcoming as a form of nursing care in the experience of primary care nurses. This is a qualitative research, guided by Alfred Schutz' social phenomenology. The participants were nine nurses working in health centers in the city of Campinas-SP, Brazil. The fieldwork took place through interviews in 2013 and data were analyzed according to the steps of social phenomenology researchers. It was identified in the research that the nurses were capable of recognizing the translation of welcoming into qualified listening, humanization, accountability and commitment to the needs of the other. In practice, however, welcoming was not acknowledged as nursing care and was characterized by occasional, fragmented and complaint-oriented visits. For this action to be acknowledged as nursing care, the nurses need to focus on relational care. DESCRIPTORS:User embracement. Family health strategy. Nursing. This study aimed to understand the play of the preschool child undergoing oncological treatment through dramatic therapeutic play. A total of five preschool age children with cancer participated in the dramatic therapeutic play sessions, between January and May 2013. The material was analyzed using the framework of phenomenology: analysis of the structure of the phenomenon in place. The following categories emerged from the sessions: Immersing oneself in the world of the disease and the oncological treatment; and Remembering the world without the disease. The study learned that becoming ill with cancer is a process which generates pain and suffering for the child, leading her to feel small and fragile in the face of the discomforts of the numerous procedures to which she is subjected. Therapeutic play was an important resource for revealing how the child with cancer feels during the treatment, and showed the children's difficulty in interacting with the unknown, and how this difficulty makes the balance between the points of health and illness complex.
Objectives: to understand high school students’ perception about the nurse’s image and role in society, from nursing knowledge patterns. Methods: phenomenographic qualitative study, developed between October 2017 and January 2018, in a public university in the countryside of the state of São Paulo, with eight Interdisciplinary Higher Education Program (Programa de Formação Interdisciplinar Superior) students. The findings were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed by the phenomenography framework, supported by rereading nursing knowledge patterns. Results: two categories emerged: Perception of nurses’ image, which contemplates their positive and negative characteristics, attributes and place where they operate; and Nurses’ role in society, in which their work is compared with physicians’. Final Considerations: despite their essential role in care, subordination to medical knowledge and lack of knowledge of nurses’ functions still reflect their image.
Experience report on the application of the nursing process (NP) to a female patient with Anorexia Nervosa patient, using patient history, diagnoses, nursing interventions and outcomes. The interventions were based on the nursing diagnoses: body image disturbance, altered nutrition less than body requirements, anxiety, chronic low self-esteem, activity intolerance, ineffective management of therapeutic regimen, risk for infection, fluid volume deficit and social isolation. Based on the application of the Nursing Process, the planned results were achieved, favoring a better quality of life during the patient's hospitalization time. Mental, neurological, endocrine and immunological factors, which are peculiar in anorexia nervosa cases, permitted the elaboration of an Nursing Process, which positively contributed to complement the patient's health rehabilitation.
