Figure à la fois professionnalisée et privilégiée, détentrice de savoirs et de savoir-faire spécifiques dont la maîtrise permet d'envisager des carrières politiques ascendantes et relativement durables, le collaborateur symbolise tout à la fois l'excellence en politique et la monopolisation du pouvoir par un nombre restreint et peu renouvelé de représentants 1. Loin d'incarner à lui seul l'« entourage » de l'élu-e, il s'impose néanmoins comme objet de recherche pour qui s'intéresse à la formation et à l'exercice du métier politique, et, par-delà, à la (trans)formation des rapports au politique et à la (dé)légitimation des élites. Pourtant, l'attention qui lui a été accordée ces dernières décennies est restée marginale, alors même que l'augmentation du nombre des auxiliaires politiques et leur professionnalisation croissante permettaient de percevoir que s'instaurait, avec la présidentialisation du régime politique, une « République de conseillers » (Eymeri-Douzans, Bioy et Mouton, 2015). Si l'on peut se réjouir de la parution récente d'ouvrages dédiés aux collaborateurs d'élu-e(s) (Courty, 2005 ; Demazière et Le Lidec, 2014 ; Michon, 2014 ; Eymeri-Douzans et al., 2015), ces derniers laissent généralement dans l'ombre l'influence de la socialisation partisane et du recrutement militant sur les représentations et les manières de faire de la politique des collaborateurs. Le plus souvent ignorants des petites formations politiques, ils manquent également de voir de quelles manières « l'être minoritaire » 2 dans les institutions pèse sur la formation de ces représentations et de ces pratiques (Jérome, 2014). Ils délaissent, enfin, le caractère que l'on a tout lieu de supposer genré de l'apprentissage du rôle de collaborateur d'élu-e(s) auquel aucun travail n'est spécifiquement dédié. Le poids du genre ayant été démontré dans l'accès des femmes au Parlement et dans l'apprentissage du rôle de député (Achin, 2005a), on voit mal en effet comment celui de collaborateur y échapperait. La collaboratrice reste ainsi le plus souvent renvoyée aux rôles auxquels l'imaginaire social la destine : secrétaire, épouse, maîtresse, fille, ou femme de l'ombre. Ces spécificités peuvent pourtant être interrogées à partir d'un double cadre d'analyse : celui de la sociologie des institutions et celui de la sociologie des professions. Inspiré par l'oeuvre wébérienne et récemment revisité à l'aune de la sociologie interactionniste, le premier permet de spécifier les conditions de l'apprentissage du métier politique et de penser ses transformations sur le temps long. Les logiques sociales de sélection et de formation du personnel politique sont ainsi ré-historicisées, et l'interaction des socialisations partisanes et institutionnelles, qui structure les rôles politiques, révélée (Offerlé, 1999 ; Lagroye et Offerlé, 2011 ; Dulong, 2012). Depuis quelques années, et surtout les dernières élections municipales, le grand public a découvert la présence de chrétiens dans le parti vert français. Passée sous le radar de la plupart des enquêtes, peu médiatisée et contre-intuitive à bien des égards, elle s’inscrit pourtant dans l’histoire longue des Verts. L’attention portée aux histoires familiales des militants, à leurs socialisations primaires ainsi qu’à la diversité de leurs engagements permet de révéler cette présence et la relation chaotique mais ténue qui unit les chrétiens verts et leurs Églises.
