Per comprendere adeguatamente non solo un momento significativo della storia della scienza tardo-medievale, ma soprattutto il carattere che una disciplina specifica, la perspectiva, ha assunto nell'ampio dibattito sull'evidenza e sulla certezza del conoscere tra la fine del XIII secolo e l'inizio del XIV, non si può fare a meno di interrogare un testo di grande rilievo: le Quaestiones perspectivae di Biagio Pelacani da Parma, filosofo, matematico, scienziato e astrologo, operante tra Pavia, Bologna, Padova e Firenze dal 1374 al 1416, le cui dottrine più rilevanti devono essere considerate quelle professate nella sua carriera di docente a Bologna tra il 1379 ed il 1382 « in medicina et artibus pro lectura philosophiae et astrologiae » 1 . Si tratta di questioni di grande rilievo, ora proposte in una recentissima edizione critica 2 che, per molti aspetti, si intrecciano saldamente allo statuto ontologico della philosophia 1 A parte la fondamentale monografia di G.
