<p class="Resumo">O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar estimativas volumétricas para a espécie <em>Genipa americana </em>L., conhecida vulgarmente como jenipapeiro, em plantio puro no município Vitória da Conquista, BA. Foram cubadas rigorosamente 100 árvores em pé para determinação do volume individual. De posse dos dados da cubagem foram ajustados dez modelos volumétricos. Os melhores modelos foram selecionados com base no critério de seleção do valor ponderado dos escores dos parâmetros estatísticos e distribuição de resíduos. As estimativas de volume foram realizadas por fator de forma e por equações ajustadas e os resultados foram comparados ao volume obtido com a cubagem, para validação das estimativas. Dentre os métodos utilizados para predição do volume, o mais recomendado é o emprego de equações volumétricas ajustadas. O modelo que apresentou melhor desempenho para estimar o volume total foi o de Spurr (Log). </p>
RESUMO: Estimular o empreendedorismo da juventude rural, visando sua inserção no protagonismo das mudanças que ocorrem nas comunidades, torna-se, a cada dia, mais relevante para o desenvolvimento rural sustentável. O restrito acesso às políticas públicas adequadas tem deixado muitos agricultores/as familiares, em especial os/as jovens, desacreditados/as da viabilidade de suas atividades. Este texto apresenta os resultados do projeto de extensão "Empreendedorismo rural: consolidação da Empresa Júnior de Agronomia da UESB", desenvolvido com jovens da agricultura familiarestudantes do ensino médio do Colégio Estadual Luís Eduardo Magalhães, do município de Caraíbas-BA. Foram realizadas oficinas de empreendedorismo rural e de plano de negócio agrícola, cursos de avicultura caipira e de horticultura em canteiros econômicos, fundamentados na realidade local. Oitenta e cinco jovens foram beneficiados e receberam kits com o material básico para iniciarem a implantação da avicultura caipira ou o cultivo de hortaliças em canteiros econômicos. A partir do conhecimento adquirido e dos kits que receberam, os jovens iniciaram uma atividade empreendedora própria, esperando-se, portanto, que possam desenvolver maior vínculo com o meio rural e perfazer uma renda que permita sua permanência no campo. The present study was carried out with the objective of evaluating the field performance of six Eucalyptus clones, using seed-produced Eucalyptus urophylla as a reference. The experiment was conducted in the city of Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil. The plants were monitored monthly with diameter at ground level and height measurements taken up to nine months after planting. Diameter at breast height (DBH) and height measurements, as well as the biomass of all tree components and stem volumes were obtained 12 months after planting. VM058 and I-144 were the only clones that showed survival rates below 70%. Nevertheless, up to the age of 12 months and similar to the seed-produced E. urophylla, the VM058 clone was the genetic material that presented the most satisfactory production given the edaphoclimatic conditions of
