A substituição da cobertura natural por áreas de pastagem afeta o albedo superficial, que por sua vez influencia no saldo de radiação e na temperatura superficial. Assim, o objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar os impactos do desmatamento sobre variáveis biofísicas no município de Apuí-AM, por imagens Landsat 5 TM (Thematic Mapper). As imagens utilizadas nesse estudo foram fornecidas pelo Serviço Geológico dos Estados Unidos (USGS). A imagem de 20/07/2010 foi processada por etapas intermediárias do SEBAL (Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land). O desmatamento no município de Apuí aumentou em 20% nos últimos 20 anos analisados. O NDVI da Floresta foi 20 e 43% maior que da pastagem e da área urbana, respectivamente. O albedo da superfície na pastagem e na área urbana foram 16% maiores que na área de Floresta e a temperatura de brilho da superfície na pastagem e na área urbana foram 16 e 10% maiores que na área de Floresta, respectivamente. O Rn na área de Floresta foi 8% e 6% maior que na área urbana e na pastagem, respectivamente. Portanto, a conversão da Floresta Amazônica modifica o balanço de radiação com maior disponibilidade de calor sensível da superfície nas áreas de pastagem e urbana. Impact of the Conversion of Natural Coverage in Pasture and Urban Area on Biophysical Variables in the Southern Amazonas AbstractThe replacement of natural cover by pasture areas affects the surface albedo, which in turn influences the balance of radiation and surface temperature. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the impacts of deforestation on biophysical variables in the municipality of Apuí-AM, by Landsat 5 TM images (Thematic Mapper). The image of 07/20/2010 was processed by intermediate stages of the SEBAL (Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land). Deforestation in the municipality of Apuí increased by 20% in the last 20 years. Forest NDVI was 20 and 43% higher than pasture and urban area, respectively. The surface albedo in the pasture and in the urban area were 16% higher than in the Forest area and the surface gloss temperature in the pasture and in the urban area were 16 and 10% higher than in the Forest area, respectively. The Rn in the Forest area was 8% and 6% higher than in the urban area and in the pasture, respectively. Therefore, the conversion of the Amazon Forest modifies the radiation balance with greater availability of sensible surface heat in the pasture and urban areas.

Variações na temperatura e no albedo da superfície estão fortemente influenciadas pelo tipo de cobertura da superfície, que implica em alteração na quantidade e distribuição de energia disponível. Diante disso, o objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a distribuição espaço-temporal da temperatura e do albedo da superfície estimados por sensoriamento remoto em diferentes tipos de cobertura vegetal no sudoeste da Amazônia. Foram utilizadas imagens do Thematic Mapper (TM) Landsat 5 para calcular a temperatura e o albedo da superfície em etapas intermediárias do SEBAL (Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land). Observou-se que os menores valores do albedo da superfície ocorreram em áreas de floresta e campo sujo, enquanto os maiores ocorreram em áreas de campo limpo e urbana. As temperaturas da superfície nas mesmas áreas apresentaram variação similar ao albedo da superfície, com menores valores em áreas de florestas e campos sujos, e maiores em áreas de campo limpo e urbana. O albedo da superfície nas áreas de campo e urbana foram em média 17 e 60%, e a temperatura da superfície foi em média 15 e 22%, respectivamente, maiores que nas florestas.

O sul do Amazônas apresenta diversas fisionomias vegetais naturais que estão sendo substituidas pela agropecuária. A variação espacial no balanço de radiação é fortemente relacionada à alterações no uso do solo. Sendo assim, o objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar a variação espaço-temporal do saldo de radiação sobre diferentes superfícies no sul do estado do Amazonas por imagens Thematic Mapper (TM) Landsat 5. A área de estudo foi no município de Humaitá-AM, onde foi possível identificar área de floresta, campo limpo, campo sujo e área de cidade. As imagens foram adquiridas no site do U. S. Geological Survey referentes aos dias 15/07/2009 e 02/07/2010. O Índice de Vegetação da Diferença Normalizada (NDVI), o Índice de Vegetação Ajustado ao Solo (SAVI) e o Saldo de Radiação da superfície (Rn) foram calculados nas etapas intermediárias do SEBAL (Surface Energy Balance Algorithms for Land). Os maiores valores de NDVI e SAVI foram observados em áreas de floresta, seguido pelas áreas de campo sujo, campo limpo e cidade. O Rn relacionou positivamente com NDVI e SAVI. O Rn variou entre 550 e 565 W.m-2 na floresta, 520 e 530 W.m-2 nos campos limpo e sujo e abaixo de 500 W.m-2 na área urbana de Humaitá. Diante disso, verificou-se que a densidade da vegetação é um fator determinante para a disponibilidade de energia no ambiente.

Brazilian tropical ecosystems in the state of Mato Grosso have experienced significant land use and cover changes during the past few decades due to deforestation and wildfire. These changes can directly affect the mass and energy exchange near the surface and, consequently, evapotranspiration (ET). Characterization of the seasonal patterns of ET can help in understanding how these tropical ecosystems function with a changing climate. The goal of this study was to characterize temporal (seasonal-to-decadal) and spatial patterns in ET over Mato Grosso using remotely sensed products. Ecosystems over areas with limited to no flux towers can be performed using remote sensing products such as NASA’s MOD16A2 ET (MOD16 ET). As the accuracy of this product in tropical ecosystems is unknown, a secondary objective of this study was to evaluate the ability of the MOD16 ET (ETMODIS) to appropriately represent the spatial and seasonal ET patterns in Mato Grosso, Brazil. Actual ET was measured (ETMeasured) using eight flux towers, three in the Amazon, three in the Cerrado, and two in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso. In general, the ETMODIS of all sites had no significant difference from ETMeasured during all analyzed periods, and ETMODIS had a significant moderate to strong correlation with the ETMeasured. The spatial variation of ET had some similarity to the climatology of Mato Grosso, with higher ET in the mid to southern parts of Mato Grosso (Cerrado and Pantanal) during the wet period compared to the dry period. The ET in the Amazon had three seasonal patterns, a higher and lower ET in the wet season compared to the dry season, and minimal to insignificant variation in ET during the wet and dry seasons. The wet season ET in Amazon decreased from the first and second decades, but the ET during the wet and dry season increased in Cerrado and Pantanal in the same period. This study highlights the importance of deepening the study of ET in the state of Mato Grosso due to the land cover and climate change.

A substituição do Cerrado mato-grossense para práticas agrícolas e a dinâmica fenológica alteram os índices biofísicos da superfície como a temperatura da superfície (Tsup) e o índice de área foliar (IAF). Assim, o objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar a variação do IAF e da Tsup por sensoriamento remoto em uma área de Cerrado no interior do estado de Mato Grosso. Imagens do sensor Thematic Mapper (TM) Landsat 5 foram utilizadas para estimar o IAF e a Tsup de uma área de Cerrado (CE), cana-de-açúcar (CA), pastagem (PA) e soja (SJ) em 2011. O IAF e a Tsup apresentaram correlação inversa. O IAF diminuiu e a Tsup aumentou ao longo da estação seca. Os maiores IAF e menores Tsup foram observados no CE, enquanto que os menores IAF e maiores Tsup foram observados na SJ. Os padrões temporais e espaciais do IAF e da Tsup na área de estudo ocorreram dirigidos pela precipitação, atividades antropogênicas e pelo próprio ciclo fenológico da vegetação.Palavras-chave: superfície do solo, antropização, aquecimento da superfície, sensoriamento remoto. INFLUENCE OF DEFORESTATION ON LEAF AREA INDEX AND SURFACE TEMPERATURE IN THE CERRADO OF MATO GROSSO ABSTRACT:The substitution of the Cerrado of Mato Grosso for agricultural practices and phenological dynamics alter the biophysical indexes of the surface such as surface temperature (Tsup) and leaf area index (LAI). Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the variation of LAI and Tsup by remote sensing in a Cerrado area in the state of Mato Grosso. The images of the Thematic Mapper (TM) Landsat 5 sensor were used to estimate the LAI and Tsup of an area of Cerrado (CE), sugarcane (CA), pasture (PA) and soybean (SJ) in 2011. The LAI and Tsup presented an inverse correlation. LAI declined and Tsup increased throughout the dry season. The higher LAI and lower Tsup were observed in the CE, while the lower LAI and higher Tsup were observed in SJ. The temporal and spatial patterns of LAI and Tsup in the study area were driven by precipitation, anthropogenic activities and by the phenological cycle of vegetation itself.Keywords: soil surface, anthropization, surface heating, remote sensing.
