Several economic, institutional, technical and socio-cultural barriers hinder countries from moving from the high to the low emission pathway. The objective of this research is to find out the impacts of social, economic, technological and regulatory barriers in the deployment of renewable energy. Data were collected through an online questionnaire responded to by 223 professionals working in the energy sector all over the globe. This research shows that social, technological and regulatory barriers have a strong influence on the deployment of renewable energy, while economic barriers significantly influence it indirectly. By breaking research and development-related barriers, organizations will be able to invest greatly in developing advanced technologies that can optimize usage of renewable energy and make renewable energy appear more lucrative. With less polluting and lower tariff energy solutions being made available to local people, and higher profits for manufacturers, this will create an atmosphere where all stakeholders are satisfied.

Developing effective clustering method for high dimensional dataset is a challenging problem due to the curse of dimensionality. Among all the partition based clustering algorithms, k-means is one of the most well known methods to partition a dataset into groups of patterns. However, the k-means method converges to one of many local minima. And it is known that, the final result depends on the initial starting points (means). Many methods have been proposed to improve the performance of k-means algorithm. In this paper, we have analyzed the performance of our proposed method with the existing works. In our proposed method, we have used Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for dimension reduction and to find the initial centroid for k-means. Next we have used heuristics approach to reduce the number of distance calculation to assign the data point to cluster. By comparing the results on iris data set, it was found that the results obtained by the proposed method are more effective than the existing method.

Problem statement: An experimental study on GFRP confined high strength concrete columns has been carried out with a view to evaluate its performances under uni-axial compression in terms of load and deformation capacity. Approach: High strength concrete columns strengthened with different configuration and stiffness of GFRP wraps were tested under axial compression until failure. Their response evaluated at different load levels. Results: The test results clearly indicated GFRP wrapped high strength concrete columns exhibit enhances performance.
