Using a crossed-beam technique with the mass-spectrometric analysis of the collision products, the processes of dissociative ionization-induced fragmentation of the glycine (C2H5NO2) molecule have been studied. The main emphasis has been given to the production of the CH4N+ fragment. A special procedure applied gave the values of the appearance potential for this fragment of 10.1 ± 0.1 eV as well as the ionization threshold for the parent glycine molecule (8.1 ± 0.1 eV), which are in fairly good agreement with the known results of other studies.
Absolute cross sections for K-shell ionization of free metal atoms K, Ca, Rb and Sr by electrons with energies up to 45 keV have been measured with uncertainty 15% using a crossed-beams technique. The results are compared with other measurements for free atoms and theoretical calculations.
