While the most commonly employed burnout measure has been the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), researchers have been troubled by some of the psychometric limitations of this instrument. The aim of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the “Spanish Burnout Inventory” (SBI). The psychometric properties were analysed with data from a sample of 277 Chilean professionals working to physical disabled people. The psychometric properties of the SBI were examined through the following analyses: confirmatory factor analysis, reliability Cronbach's alpha, and concurrent validity with the MBI. The hypothesized four factor model obtained an adequate data fit for the sample (X2(164) = 285.32, p < .001, GFI = .96, RMSEA = .052, NNFI = .93, CFI = .94). Results confirmed the hypothesis formulated. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was higher than .70 for the four scales of the instruments. Results supported the concurrent validity with the MBI. As a whole, the results of these study provided evidence on the adequate psychometric properties of the SBI for the study of burnout in the Chilean cultural context.
1. Brown trout ova were imported during the last century from different locations in Europe to establish populations in Chilean rivers (South America). The rivers are currently occupied by naturalized populations that have adapted to very different environmental conditions, such as areas of semi‐desert in the north, or rainy and cold areas in the south. 2. In this first study in this geographical area, electrophoretic variability of proteins encoded by twenty‐five loci was screened in seven populations from northern to southern Chile. 3. The results show significant heterogeneity of allelic frequencies between populations in seven of eleven polymorphic loci detected. The estimated value of genetic diversity 0.1274 (HT) is higher than that observed in populations from areas of natural distribution of this species. However, only 12.64% of this genetic diversity was found between samples (GST), indicating a low genetic divergence among Chilean populations. The observed associations among the Chilean and ‘modern’ group of European populations suggests the probable origin of the new populations.
Excessive fishing effort has led to overexploitation and depletion of major benthic fisheries in Chile, so it has been encouraged cultivation of major overexploited benthic resources in controlled environments, mainly those which are not possible to collect seeds from environment. In this review, the current knowledge on bacteriology associated with shellfish farming in controlled systems in Chile, including both aspects associated with development of infectious diseases of bacterial aetiology as well as the use of microorganisms to reduce mortality of cultured species, is described. The majority of bacteriological studies in Chilean shellfish culture were done in the Chilean scallop, Argopecten purpuratus and were related to identifying pathogens isolated from mass mortalities occurred in larval and/or juvenile cultures and the verification of their pathogenic activity performing bioassays under controlled condition bioassays. There are also a large number of studies on bacteria exhibiting inhibitory activities against shellfish pathogenic and their protective effects under controlled conditions. Despite the above, still are required more studies to know the structure and dynamics of the microbiota associated to mollusk culture, bacterial pathogens and molecular elements encoding for their pathogenicity.
