The study was conducted to investigate the responses of the hepatic microsomal cytochrome P450 monooxygenase system in the rock bream Oplegnathus fasciatus after chronic exposure to 0, 1, 2, 4, and 8 μg/L tributyltin (TBT) concentrations for 4 weeks. Hepatic cytochrome 450 content and ethoxyresorufin O-deethylation (EROD) activity were found to significantly increase in fish treated with the higher concentration of TBT (≥4 μg/L); however, no significant changes were observed in penthoxyresorufin Odeethylation (PROD) activity in all treated groups compared to the control group. These findings suggest that exposure to a low TBT concentration (≥4 μg/L) has the potential to induce cytochrome 450 content and EROD enzyme activity in hepatic tissue in the rock bream.
Experiments were carried out to investigate the growth and hematological parameters of rock bream Oplegnathus fasciatus exposed to several different concentrations (0, 1, 2, 4, 8 ㎍/L) of tributyltin (TBT) for 4 weeks. Growth rate of the fish exposed to 8 ㎍/L of TBT concentration was significantly lower than that of control group fish. The major hematological findings were significant decreases in the red blood cell count, hematocrit value and hemogobin concentration in the fish exposed to 8 ㎍/L. Although serum glucose concentration was significantly reduced compared to the control group, total protein concentration was found to be significantly increased over the control group.Exposure to 8 ㎍/L of TBT concentration resulted in significant increase in the enzyme activities, such as glutamic oxalate transminase and glutamic pyruvate transminase in the fish. The present findings suggest that exposure to 8 ㎍/L concentration of TBT can cause significant changes in growth and hematological parameters of rock bream Oplegnathus fasciatuso.
시험어 망둑어류, 두줄망둑(Tridentiger trigonocephalus), 점망둑 (Chasmichtthys dolichognathus) 및 날개망둑(Favonigobius gymnauchen)은 5월에서 6월에 걸쳐 부산 다대포 연안, 부산 시 기장군 일광해변, 남해안 연안 등지에서 투망 및 손 그물로 채집하였다. 채집된 망둑어류는 실험실로 운반하여 400 L 순 환식 여과수조에서 10일 이상 순치 시켰다. 이때 먹이는 갯지 렁이와 패류 육질을 혼합하여 공급하였고, 실험에는 유사한 개체(두줄망둑, 0.27-0.34 g; 점망둑, 0.18-0.23 g; 날개망둑, 0.31-0.39 g)를 선별하여 사용하였다.
